I just found out that a relative is having another baby (her first passed away shortly after birth about 5 years ago). I would like to give her a Pregnancy Gift Basket some time in December and would like suggestions. I would also like an idea of something I could include for her husband. It's taken them a long time to deal with the loss, so I want to make it happy.
Her belly has as many scars as mine (kindof like the topography of the moon). They itch. I would like suggestions for a cream that would soothe and prevent the itching as time goes on, since preventing more stretch marks is sortof pointless.
Any other gift suggestions would be appreciated!
Pregnancy Gift Suggestions?
What a great idea for your friend!
Some of the ideas I have are:
Preggie Pops
Belli Cosmestics gift set
Bella Band
Hand massager for her back and legs
Pregnancy journal to chronicle this pregnancy
Prenatal massage or pedicure gift certificate
Pregnancy pillow - I can't sleep w/out mine at all
Sonogram picture frame
Maternity pjs or robe
Mederma for the scars
Cute maternity shirt - 2chix.com has great ones
For dad-to-be:
Picture frame - I just bought this 1 for my husband: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp...
Cute t-shirt about his dad-to-be status (again, 2chix.com!)
His own diaper bag
Hope this helps!
Reply:Thanks so much Dante's Mommy. I tried to vote you as Best Answer, but it had already gone to voting. GREAT ideas! Report It
Reply:OH THAT'S GREAT... IF YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE HAVING THEN GET THEM THINGS FOR THE SEX OF THE BABY... ANYTHING WILL BE HELPFUL. BOTTLES,PAMPERS, WIPES, SHAMPOO,CREAMS, BOTTLE BRUSH, WELL ALL THAT AND MORE... I USED COCOA BUTTER ON MY BELLY THAT ALWAYS HELPED ... GOOD LUCK TO THEM!!!!!
Reply:HI, maybe you can try the following website. There is something especially for kids. From now till Christmas 2007, 15% off on any orders over $20 dollars. Just enter "xmas2007" during checkout. And now they will give a free extra gift so far as you buy anything. Join their "get the word out" promotion, you can get voucher for the next purchase.
Reply:for a cream get BIO OIL It works wonders,.and or a mommy to be t-shirt
Reply:A great idea for a care package (basket) would be to put things in it that will pamper her. Mederma is an excellent skin creme used to minimize the appearance of already formed stretch marks. Also, get her a manicure and pedicure from the local nail shop, and maybe a nice robe.
Reply:Bath and body works has "flavored" cocoa butter stuff. My best friend got me some last Christmas while I was pregnant that was marshmallow. It smelled SO GOOD, I wanted to eat it!
I'm still on the fence about if it really helps for stretch marks, but even if it didn't, I bet she'd like that.
I'm not sure what scents they have, but you'd probably find some other ideas as well while you were in there.
Something nice just for her might be a gift certificate for a manicure and/or pedicure at a local nail salon. Might be something to just lift her spirits and make her feel good.
Reply:just get her stuff the baby really needs, no matter what youll get her the baby is gonna need it, trust me!!! im currently 35 weeks pregnant and i itch alot too, this whole pregnancy i been usuing cocoa butter with the pregnant woman on the front and so far i dont have any stretch marks on my belly...im keepin my fingers crossed tho
Reply:Diapers, wipes and ointment Oh MY!
Reply:Maybe some slippers or massage oils that her and her husband could use on each other. Cocoa butter lotion to help with stretch marks.

Valentines Day gift for my fiance...?
My fiance and I have been together for 3 1/2 years and we NEVER make a big deal out of Valentines Day, but this year I was thinking about doing something special. I am going to make him his favorite dinner and I was thinking about making him a gift basket with a few things in it.
Boxers
Candies
Massage Oils
Picture of us
and a list of 10 things I love about him, but I am having trouble being creative with my list. Any suggestions on the list or on what else I can add to the basket?
Valentines Day gift for my fiance...?
for the boxers, go to a store like Macy's to the men's dept. and find some that are for valentines day, with little hearts or kisses or cupids, etc. they're cute, and only you will know he's wearing them. for the chocolate, give him Hersey's kisses, lol. why not take the picture and put it in a little silver frame? get one of those gag item coupon books, where each ticket says something like "FREE; a hug and a kiss", or "you win a back rub and bubble bath", etc. i don't remember where i saw them, but try Spencer's Gifts if there's one near you. oh, here's a GOOD one! Buy some VERY SEXY cologne for men at a Victoria Secret. It's named VERY SEXY for a reason. It really does smell sexy.
and since you are making him a basket, tell him you want to celebrate Valentine's Day this time. Make up your mind in advance what you'd like and TELL him... because guys don't take hints... they don't know what hints are. personally, me and hubby always celebrate it... it's a great day for romance no matter WHAT your age.
Reply:oooo the gift basket is such a great idea!!!
Maybe something like:
"Your personality captured my heart"
"I love when you act tough even though you are secretly very afraid of spiders" - or whateva he is afraid of lol
"I love your sexy butt"
"I love how you always know how to make me laugh"
"I love that you always know the right things to say"
"I love that even when i'm in the grumpiest mood you make me laugh"
"You are the H in my heart"
Ummm i dont know! lol. Its difficult because i'm obviously not you and i dont know your fiance from a bar of soap lol. Dont worry about being creative, just think about what you love and put them down!
xoxox
Reply:get white boxers and put paint on your lips and kiss them!
Reply:Well, seeing how the list is "10 things YOU love about him", you have to come up with your own stuff. But that stuff sounds cute. Maybe throw in a mix cd with songs that remind you of him. And maybe your favorite cologne.
Reply:think of a lovely Shakespeare stanza and devise a means of formulating an interesting story out of it. after which you can organize some small thing for eating and then a bottle of wine. you need to reveal the secret box after making love
Reply:a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate, together those to make one heck of an aphrodisiac, and heaps romantic too

How would i advertise for this?
I am starting a gift basket business ( i am 13)
how would i let people know about this. online local ads?
How would i advertise for this?
First look for a free online advertising service in your area. There may be one and your problems are solved. Your ISP may allow you to set up a page listing your services. If not, look into one of the free hosting services, such as tripod (http://www.tripod.lycos.com) and build your own page or get some help to make one. Put up flyers on bulletin boards in places like groceries and laundromats with both your web address and phone number.
If not, many newspapers will list student-operated businesses and their services.
First, be certain you are old enough to legally operate a business. This may be a sticking point because in most of the United States, you are not old enough to enter into a binding contract. Just be sure before going to far.

Christmas Gift for a girl?
i want to get/make a gift for a girl I like in my class. We talk a lot but I still don't know much about her to know what to get her. I was thinking a gift basket but I dont know how to make one or what to put in it. Umm I dont want to make it obvious that I like her because I'm not ready to tell her yet. I still want to learn more abuot her and have her learn more about me before I make a move that might turn out awkward and ruin the friendship. Also I don't know if she has a boyfriend yet. Any suggestions on what I can give her. No: Money/gift cards... Something thoughtful and creative. 60 bucks max.
Christmas Gift for a girl?
Burn a CD with songs you think she would enjoy. It shows you care about what she likes and she would appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness.
Reply:How old is she?
Get her 2 movie tickets and a dinner for 2. Maybe she'll get the hint.
Reply:A great book, a pendant necklace, a gift before you know her too well may not be the best thing though.
If you talk a lot than think back on those conversations and see if you can remember something that she likes or talks about a lot.
Reply:Why not a cd?
Reply:Um, maybe perfume!!!!! And roses!!!!!!
Reply:Why not bring up the holidays, ask if her family does much for Christmas, and at some point also ask what she hopes to get for gifts.
What she says, I would leave that to her family since they probably already know and may plan to get it for her. However...it *should* help give you an idea of what kind of things she's into. So maybe you could take that and find, say, a nice but inexpensive bracelet, pendent, funny socks, a book, or some other item *related* to what she seems to like.
One thing definitely, you don't want to go too overboard with it since you are still in the phase of trying to hint to her your feelings. Too much too soon and some people tend to back away pretty quick, ending any chances. Keep it nice but simple this time around. Too much might end up a bit awkward for you both.
Reply:Go and get her a gift set from bath and body works.
Reply:give her a stuffed bear holding candy. (m%26amp;ms, skittles, etc) candy and cute things.... gets girls every time and can be given to her without her realizing she likes you
Reply:How about a movie basket? As some girls in her age range what kinda chick flick they would like. Then get that DVD and a box of microwave popcorn (take them out of box),a cute girly kinda mug from a dollar store, put in hot cocoa or spiced cider mix(just a couple of packets inside the cup, also one of those big Hershey bars and a pack of red vines. While at the dollar store pick-up a basket that will hold all of this and gift basket cover. If you have enough money left over buy fake mistletoe and red curling ribbon from dollar store,Put it altogether and you have a thoughtful gift that doesn't scream romantic but whispers it ; {} I figured it up to be about $35. max
Reply:a gift basket is too much...flowers-jewelry of any kind are obvious that you have a crush on her...any thing that cost over 20 bucks is too much...so...
something like those really soft blankets that have cool colors or winter decorations
or a manicure set would be good
or learn more about her to find something less generic to buy her

13 yr. old girl Christmas gift ideas?
I know people ask this question a lot, but I read some and I still don't have a good answer. What are some things that a 13 yr. old girl would want for Christmas? I already have a cell phone %26amp; an iPod. And I hate getting gift cards, b/c I hate spending money, so money's out too. I don't know why I don't like it, but I don't, I love shopping though. I've already asked for a digital camera %26amp; a gift basket from Bath %26amp; Body Works. I don't want any CD's, b/c 1.)I have iTunes and 2.)I don't really listen to music besides my iPod. I already have a Nintendo DS, and don't want a PSP, %26amp; we can't afford a Wii. My grandparents are going to redo mine %26amp; my sister's room [[we share a room]] for out present from them. I'm not that big on concerts, magizines, boooks, and my mom already has A LOT of nail stuff. What else can I ask for, all I can find is the digital camera %26amp; the gift basket. I know you may think I'm spoiled or w/e, but I've gotton all this stuff over years %26amp; from different ppl

Reply:ask for clothes every girl can use new clothes or purses or a new pair of heels. If you go to http://delias.com they have the cutest stuff you'll luv the stuff there sooooooo much you'll just want it all. It is so adorable. Please don't get playboy stuff that is for tramps and you're better than that, you'll look like a washed up hooker PLEASE DON"T LISTEN TO ABOVE! Playboy takes all women's dignaty and treats women like sex objects that were created for men's sick pleasures and I strongly object to that stuff--that's not cool! ur not spoiled!! merry christmas!!

Reply:ok im guessing u like stores like abercrombie and hollister so ask for a gift card or even ask ur aprents how mush they r willing to spend say they say $200 then ask them to get u one of those credit cards u can get at da store and fill it with that amount so u can just get things u want
Reply:what about a new bike! You might think this is patronising and starving people have nothing to do with your spoilt self...but I just think it's pathetic that little 13-year-olds are getting all this stuff and not even giving it another thought.

If you got a gift you didn't like, would you tell the gift-giver that you don't like it?
What would you do?
My mother in law usually tells me she doesn't like what I get for her, and sternly tells me it needs to be returned. Then she will pester me in the days following Xmas to see if I have returned her gift yet.
This has made me question whether I should get her anything at all this year, I take offense to this behavior. I was taught to always be gracious and say 'thanks'! FYI, these gifts are very expensive items from high end stores, I'm really trying to get her something she'd like, not just some crappy gift.
This year I decided to send mother and father in law a large gift basket full of goodies instead of trying to get them each a thoughtful gift. Am I being sensitive, or am I right to feel this is really rude of my mother in law?
If you got a gift you didn't like, would you tell the gift-giver that you don't like it?
when i get something i dont like, i just give it to someone else next year, no big deal. you could always give her a gift certificate, that way you cant be wrong. yeah, you have the right to feel the way you do, this goes beyond insensitivity, it just being mean and disrespectful. if it were me, i would give her a dog turd in a box, then tell her if she didnt like it, she could return it.
Reply:You are 100% right. How ungrateful and rude she is! I hope she raised her son different! I think your combined gift basket idea is a very good one. She sounds pretty much un-pleasable and you've got to beat her at her own game! I truly feel sorry for you. It is a joy to give gifts to loved ones at Christmas, and she is ruining that for you!
i like the idea of giving gifts from you AND your husband. That's what me and my husband do. You might want to try that just one Christmas and see how she reacts. See if she says something similar to your husband and see how he reacts to it!
Reply:Wow! If she were MY mother-in-law, she'd _be_ so lucky to get the goody basket you sent!
Reply:Get your mother-in-law an etiquitte book; she desperately needs one.
It is beyond belief a person could behave so ungraciously. She must have it in for you.
Your husband needs to run interference and discuss this with his mother-- it's his job to smoothe things over.
You may want to have him shop for his parents and sign the card with both of your names.
A gift basket will probably get the same reaction from her, but good on you for trying.
Merry Christmas!
Reply:give her a gift card to a store you know she shops at.
or...tell her you've been too busy to return it, but she's welcome to.
I have NEVER asked someone for even the receipt so I could return something. I settle for the exchange or store credit.
RUDE
Reply:Don't tell them you don't like it. Regift it.
Reply:I applaud your willingness to continue giving her gifts. Do you notice her, outside of the holidays, appearing less than grateful for things? If so, then I wouldn't take it personally. It may be that she's just very hard to please and no matter what anyone gives her she just won't be happy. In this case, she has a problem within herself.
If it appears the problem is mainly with your gifts then I would give a gift basket, like you said.
Reply:NO SHE IS RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! I would get her a gift card and stick the reciept in there. If she doesnt want it she can be sassy and see if she can get the cash. WOW!!!! Im sorry I have mother-in-law issues.
I would stick to gift cards. Or a basket like you said. Good luck dear! Mother in laws SUCK hahahaah.
**EDIT** Before i get my behind kicked for saying mother in laws suck lol. BAD mother in laws suck!!!!
Reply:You are totally in the right. Some people are really hard to shop for and when you finally find something you think they will like, then give it, its like a slap in the face if they are rude about it. Since she seems to not like your gifts, I would go ahead and give her generic gifts i.e. gift cards to departments stores or resturants that way she can get what she wants. Good luck this year!
Reply:Next time, let your HUSBAND get the gift. Then see how HE likes it when he gets the criticism from his mother. Leave it TOTALLY up to HIM, and if he doesn't get a gift, let THAT fall upon his shoulders, too! Your MIL sounds like an ingrate to me, and may never change.
Have a polite day.
Reply:On the basic question, no. I would simply accept it graciously, and like it or not, use it if it is in any way useful. Otherwise, I might consider regifting it, but not within the same circle (so original giver would never find out).
Most stores will give you a gift receipt you can give with the gift. Then the person can do their own returning if they want to, and the giver will never know. You could do that, and then your in-laws can spend the time.
I think the gift basket is a great idea. No one will refuse that. (I hope.) Another solution would be to ask your husband or father-in-law to sound out your m-i-l as to what she would really like.
Reply:She is being rude. If she doesn't like it, she can return it herself. You don't ask the "gift giver" to return the item. This woman has some nerve. I wouldn't get her anything.
Reply:Keep it
say thank you
saying or doing anything else is just really rude on your part.
Reply:Nope I say you are totally right to feel this way next time just give a gift card that what me %26amp; my husband do to our in-laws and it's great nobody complains and they can but their own d**m gift.My mother in-law did that for her husband and every year he would complain and now she's gone so I bet he really regrets that last Christmas since she died so close to Christmas.
Reply:The correct response from your mother in law would be to stay quiet and, if she found the gift genuinely distasteful, return it herself.
She could then subtly hint in future about what she may prefer.
However, your correct response, in this instance, is to batter her over the head with the offending item and then claim you cannot return it as it is now damaged.
I hope she will then see the folly of her ways.

WHAT do you get in your STOCKING at christmas?
usually for me, half of it is filled with candy and in the top part there are gift cards, lotions, lip gloss, small gifts like a necklace, etc. then next to the stockings might be a gift basket with gourmet hot chocolate or something like that. we always have to open our stockings before gifts.
