Pregnancy Gift Suggestions?

I just found out that a relative is having another baby (her first passed away shortly after birth about 5 years ago). I would like to give her a Pregnancy Gift Basket some time in December and would like suggestions. I would also like an idea of something I could include for her husband. It's taken them a long time to deal with the loss, so I want to make it happy.

Her belly has as many scars as mine (kindof like the topography of the moon). They itch. I would like suggestions for a cream that would soothe and prevent the itching as time goes on, since preventing more stretch marks is sortof pointless.

Any other gift suggestions would be appreciated!

Pregnancy Gift Suggestions?
What a great idea for your friend!

Some of the ideas I have are:

Preggie Pops

Belli Cosmestics gift set

Bella Band

Hand massager for her back and legs

Pregnancy journal to chronicle this pregnancy

Prenatal massage or pedicure gift certificate

Pregnancy pillow - I can't sleep w/out mine at all

Sonogram picture frame

Maternity pjs or robe

Mederma for the scars

Cute maternity shirt - 2chix.com has great ones

For dad-to-be:

Picture frame - I just bought this 1 for my husband: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp...

Cute t-shirt about his dad-to-be status (again, 2chix.com!)

His own diaper bag

Hope this helps!
Reply:Thanks so much Dante's Mommy. I tried to vote you as Best Answer, but it had already gone to voting. GREAT ideas! Report It
Reply:OH THAT'S GREAT... IF YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE HAVING THEN GET THEM THINGS FOR THE SEX OF THE BABY... ANYTHING WILL BE HELPFUL. BOTTLES,PAMPERS, WIPES, SHAMPOO,CREAMS, BOTTLE BRUSH, WELL ALL THAT AND MORE... I USED COCOA BUTTER ON MY BELLY THAT ALWAYS HELPED ... GOOD LUCK TO THEM!!!!!
Reply:HI, maybe you can try the following website. There is something especially for kids. From now till Christmas 2007, 15% off on any orders over $20 dollars. Just enter "xmas2007" during checkout. And now they will give a free extra gift so far as you buy anything. Join their "get the word out" promotion, you can get voucher for the next purchase.
Reply:for a cream get BIO OIL It works wonders,.and or a mommy to be t-shirt
Reply:A great idea for a care package (basket) would be to put things in it that will pamper her. Mederma is an excellent skin creme used to minimize the appearance of already formed stretch marks. Also, get her a manicure and pedicure from the local nail shop, and maybe a nice robe.
Reply:Bath and body works has "flavored" cocoa butter stuff. My best friend got me some last Christmas while I was pregnant that was marshmallow. It smelled SO GOOD, I wanted to eat it!

I'm still on the fence about if it really helps for stretch marks, but even if it didn't, I bet she'd like that.

I'm not sure what scents they have, but you'd probably find some other ideas as well while you were in there.

Something nice just for her might be a gift certificate for a manicure and/or pedicure at a local nail salon. Might be something to just lift her spirits and make her feel good.
Reply:just get her stuff the baby really needs, no matter what youll get her the baby is gonna need it, trust me!!! im currently 35 weeks pregnant and i itch alot too, this whole pregnancy i been usuing cocoa butter with the pregnant woman on the front and so far i dont have any stretch marks on my belly...im keepin my fingers crossed tho
Reply:Diapers, wipes and ointment Oh MY!
Reply:Maybe some slippers or massage oils that her and her husband could use on each other. Cocoa butter lotion to help with stretch marks.

Valentines Day gift for my fiance...?

My fiance and I have been together for 3 1/2 years and we NEVER make a big deal out of Valentines Day, but this year I was thinking about doing something special. I am going to make him his favorite dinner and I was thinking about making him a gift basket with a few things in it.

Boxers

Candies

Massage Oils

Picture of us

and a list of 10 things I love about him, but I am having trouble being creative with my list. Any suggestions on the list or on what else I can add to the basket?

Valentines Day gift for my fiance...?
for the boxers, go to a store like Macy's to the men's dept. and find some that are for valentines day, with little hearts or kisses or cupids, etc. they're cute, and only you will know he's wearing them. for the chocolate, give him Hersey's kisses, lol. why not take the picture and put it in a little silver frame? get one of those gag item coupon books, where each ticket says something like "FREE; a hug and a kiss", or "you win a back rub and bubble bath", etc. i don't remember where i saw them, but try Spencer's Gifts if there's one near you. oh, here's a GOOD one! Buy some VERY SEXY cologne for men at a Victoria Secret. It's named VERY SEXY for a reason. It really does smell sexy.

and since you are making him a basket, tell him you want to celebrate Valentine's Day this time. Make up your mind in advance what you'd like and TELL him... because guys don't take hints... they don't know what hints are. personally, me and hubby always celebrate it... it's a great day for romance no matter WHAT your age.
Reply:oooo the gift basket is such a great idea!!!

Maybe something like:

"Your personality captured my heart"

"I love when you act tough even though you are secretly very afraid of spiders" - or whateva he is afraid of lol

"I love your sexy butt"

"I love how you always know how to make me laugh"

"I love that you always know the right things to say"

"I love that even when i'm in the grumpiest mood you make me laugh"

"You are the H in my heart"

Ummm i dont know! lol. Its difficult because i'm obviously not you and i dont know your fiance from a bar of soap lol. Dont worry about being creative, just think about what you love and put them down!

xoxox
Reply:get white boxers and put paint on your lips and kiss them!
Reply:Well, seeing how the list is "10 things YOU love about him", you have to come up with your own stuff. But that stuff sounds cute. Maybe throw in a mix cd with songs that remind you of him. And maybe your favorite cologne.
Reply:think of a lovely Shakespeare stanza and devise a means of formulating an interesting story out of it. after which you can organize some small thing for eating and then a bottle of wine. you need to reveal the secret box after making love
Reply:a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate, together those to make one heck of an aphrodisiac, and heaps romantic too

How would i advertise for this?

I am starting a gift basket business ( i am 13)

how would i let people know about this. online local ads?

How would i advertise for this?
First look for a free online advertising service in your area. There may be one and your problems are solved. Your ISP may allow you to set up a page listing your services. If not, look into one of the free hosting services, such as tripod (http://www.tripod.lycos.com) and build your own page or get some help to make one. Put up flyers on bulletin boards in places like groceries and laundromats with both your web address and phone number.

If not, many newspapers will list student-operated businesses and their services.

First, be certain you are old enough to legally operate a business. This may be a sticking point because in most of the United States, you are not old enough to enter into a binding contract. Just be sure before going to far.
Reply:craigslist.org is a good place to list stuff and it's free.

Christmas Gift for a girl?

i want to get/make a gift for a girl I like in my class. We talk a lot but I still don't know much about her to know what to get her. I was thinking a gift basket but I dont know how to make one or what to put in it. Umm I dont want to make it obvious that I like her because I'm not ready to tell her yet. I still want to learn more abuot her and have her learn more about me before I make a move that might turn out awkward and ruin the friendship. Also I don't know if she has a boyfriend yet. Any suggestions on what I can give her. No: Money/gift cards... Something thoughtful and creative. 60 bucks max.

Christmas Gift for a girl?
Burn a CD with songs you think she would enjoy. It shows you care about what she likes and she would appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness.
Reply:How old is she?

Get her 2 movie tickets and a dinner for 2. Maybe she'll get the hint.
Reply:A great book, a pendant necklace, a gift before you know her too well may not be the best thing though.

If you talk a lot than think back on those conversations and see if you can remember something that she likes or talks about a lot.
Reply:Why not a cd?
Reply:Um, maybe perfume!!!!! And roses!!!!!!
Reply:Why not bring up the holidays, ask if her family does much for Christmas, and at some point also ask what she hopes to get for gifts.

What she says, I would leave that to her family since they probably already know and may plan to get it for her. However...it *should* help give you an idea of what kind of things she's into. So maybe you could take that and find, say, a nice but inexpensive bracelet, pendent, funny socks, a book, or some other item *related* to what she seems to like.

One thing definitely, you don't want to go too overboard with it since you are still in the phase of trying to hint to her your feelings. Too much too soon and some people tend to back away pretty quick, ending any chances. Keep it nice but simple this time around. Too much might end up a bit awkward for you both.
Reply:Go and get her a gift set from bath and body works.
Reply:give her a stuffed bear holding candy. (m%26amp;ms, skittles, etc) candy and cute things.... gets girls every time and can be given to her without her realizing she likes you
Reply:How about a movie basket? As some girls in her age range what kinda chick flick they would like. Then get that DVD and a box of microwave popcorn (take them out of box),a cute girly kinda mug from a dollar store, put in hot cocoa or spiced cider mix(just a couple of packets inside the cup, also one of those big Hershey bars and a pack of red vines. While at the dollar store pick-up a basket that will hold all of this and gift basket cover. If you have enough money left over buy fake mistletoe and red curling ribbon from dollar store,Put it altogether and you have a thoughtful gift that doesn't scream romantic but whispers it ; {} I figured it up to be about $35. max
Reply:a gift basket is too much...flowers-jewelry of any kind are obvious that you have a crush on her...any thing that cost over 20 bucks is too much...so...

something like those really soft blankets that have cool colors or winter decorations

or a manicure set would be good

or learn more about her to find something less generic to buy her

13 yr. old girl Christmas gift ideas?

I know people ask this question a lot, but I read some and I still don't have a good answer. What are some things that a 13 yr. old girl would want for Christmas? I already have a cell phone %26amp; an iPod. And I hate getting gift cards, b/c I hate spending money, so money's out too. I don't know why I don't like it, but I don't, I love shopping though. I've already asked for a digital camera %26amp; a gift basket from Bath %26amp; Body Works. I don't want any CD's, b/c 1.)I have iTunes and 2.)I don't really listen to music besides my iPod. I already have a Nintendo DS, and don't want a PSP, %26amp; we can't afford a Wii. My grandparents are going to redo mine %26amp; my sister's room [[we share a room]] for out present from them. I'm not that big on concerts, magizines, boooks, and my mom already has A LOT of nail stuff. What else can I ask for, all I can find is the digital camera %26amp; the gift basket. I know you may think I'm spoiled or w/e, but I've gotton all this stuff over years %26amp; from different ppl

13 yr. old girl Christmas gift ideas?
clothes, jewelry, shoes, movie tickets for you and a friend, an animal, a tomato plant, an orange tree a rose bush, give a donation in your name to a charity, collectibles, invest in a piece of valuable art, a CD from the bank to put towards college, new bedding, new lamp, new games for your Nintendo, a subscription to somewhere, a robot, a telescope, DVDs, something to engage your mind like games, puzzles of different sorts, lessons for something, like cooking, horseback riding, knitting, sewing
Reply:Hairspray and Pirates of the Caribbean:At World's End on DVD !

(at least that's what I want and I'm almost 3 times your age!) ;)
Reply:ask for clothes every girl can use new clothes or purses or a new pair of heels. If you go to http://delias.com they have the cutest stuff you'll luv the stuff there sooooooo much you'll just want it all. It is so adorable. Please don't get playboy stuff that is for tramps and you're better than that, you'll look like a washed up hooker PLEASE DON"T LISTEN TO ABOVE! Playboy takes all women's dignaty and treats women like sex objects that were created for men's sick pleasures and I strongly object to that stuff--that's not cool! ur not spoiled!! merry christmas!!
Reply:A big screen TV and surround sound....
Reply:Do you have the new iPod Nano with video? I love it!! You can download your favorite movies and TV shows (reality shows, etc.) onto it and watch it wherever you go! You can sell your old iPod and use the money to buy movies for your new Nano.

Find it on Yahoo! Shopping: http://shopping.yahoo.com/b:Top%2010%20M...
Reply:ok im guessing u like stores like abercrombie and hollister so ask for a gift card or even ask ur aprents how mush they r willing to spend say they say $200 then ask them to get u one of those credit cards u can get at da store and fill it with that amount so u can just get things u want
Reply:what about a new bike! (seems like you have everything to entertain yourself inside and to make you look/smell pretty.) why not look for a gift that will get you outside? skates, skateboard, ice skates...or something that you can use outside--hiking boots, telescope, a kite? (ok, the kite idea is a little silly!)
Reply:my daughter loves jewlerry playboy watches and has all her room in play boy make up ;
Reply:You are spoilt. You're only 13 and you have all this stuff yet you're asking for more. It doesn't matter that you've gotten it over the years, you still have all this stuff. Some people in the world can't even afford to eat.

You might think this is patronising and starving people have nothing to do with your spoilt self...but I just think it's pathetic that little 13-year-olds are getting all this stuff and not even giving it another thought.

If you got a gift you didn't like, would you tell the gift-giver that you don't like it?

What would you do?

My mother in law usually tells me she doesn't like what I get for her, and sternly tells me it needs to be returned. Then she will pester me in the days following Xmas to see if I have returned her gift yet.

This has made me question whether I should get her anything at all this year, I take offense to this behavior. I was taught to always be gracious and say 'thanks'! FYI, these gifts are very expensive items from high end stores, I'm really trying to get her something she'd like, not just some crappy gift.

This year I decided to send mother and father in law a large gift basket full of goodies instead of trying to get them each a thoughtful gift. Am I being sensitive, or am I right to feel this is really rude of my mother in law?

If you got a gift you didn't like, would you tell the gift-giver that you don't like it?
when i get something i dont like, i just give it to someone else next year, no big deal. you could always give her a gift certificate, that way you cant be wrong. yeah, you have the right to feel the way you do, this goes beyond insensitivity, it just being mean and disrespectful. if it were me, i would give her a dog turd in a box, then tell her if she didnt like it, she could return it.
Reply:You are 100% right. How ungrateful and rude she is! I hope she raised her son different! I think your combined gift basket idea is a very good one. She sounds pretty much un-pleasable and you've got to beat her at her own game! I truly feel sorry for you. It is a joy to give gifts to loved ones at Christmas, and she is ruining that for you!

i like the idea of giving gifts from you AND your husband. That's what me and my husband do. You might want to try that just one Christmas and see how she reacts. See if she says something similar to your husband and see how he reacts to it!
Reply:Wow! If she were MY mother-in-law, she'd _be_ so lucky to get the goody basket you sent!
Reply:Get your mother-in-law an etiquitte book; she desperately needs one.

It is beyond belief a person could behave so ungraciously. She must have it in for you.

Your husband needs to run interference and discuss this with his mother-- it's his job to smoothe things over.

You may want to have him shop for his parents and sign the card with both of your names.

A gift basket will probably get the same reaction from her, but good on you for trying.

Merry Christmas!
Reply:give her a gift card to a store you know she shops at.

or...tell her you've been too busy to return it, but she's welcome to.

I have NEVER asked someone for even the receipt so I could return something. I settle for the exchange or store credit.

RUDE
Reply:Don't tell them you don't like it. Regift it.
Reply:I applaud your willingness to continue giving her gifts. Do you notice her, outside of the holidays, appearing less than grateful for things? If so, then I wouldn't take it personally. It may be that she's just very hard to please and no matter what anyone gives her she just won't be happy. In this case, she has a problem within herself.

If it appears the problem is mainly with your gifts then I would give a gift basket, like you said.
Reply:NO SHE IS RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! I would get her a gift card and stick the reciept in there. If she doesnt want it she can be sassy and see if she can get the cash. WOW!!!! Im sorry I have mother-in-law issues.

I would stick to gift cards. Or a basket like you said. Good luck dear! Mother in laws SUCK hahahaah.

**EDIT** Before i get my behind kicked for saying mother in laws suck lol. BAD mother in laws suck!!!!
Reply:You are totally in the right. Some people are really hard to shop for and when you finally find something you think they will like, then give it, its like a slap in the face if they are rude about it. Since she seems to not like your gifts, I would go ahead and give her generic gifts i.e. gift cards to departments stores or resturants that way she can get what she wants. Good luck this year!
Reply:Next time, let your HUSBAND get the gift. Then see how HE likes it when he gets the criticism from his mother. Leave it TOTALLY up to HIM, and if he doesn't get a gift, let THAT fall upon his shoulders, too! Your MIL sounds like an ingrate to me, and may never change.

Have a polite day.
Reply:On the basic question, no. I would simply accept it graciously, and like it or not, use it if it is in any way useful. Otherwise, I might consider regifting it, but not within the same circle (so original giver would never find out).

Most stores will give you a gift receipt you can give with the gift. Then the person can do their own returning if they want to, and the giver will never know. You could do that, and then your in-laws can spend the time.

I think the gift basket is a great idea. No one will refuse that. (I hope.) Another solution would be to ask your husband or father-in-law to sound out your m-i-l as to what she would really like.
Reply:She is being rude. If she doesn't like it, she can return it herself. You don't ask the "gift giver" to return the item. This woman has some nerve. I wouldn't get her anything.
Reply:Keep it

say thank you

saying or doing anything else is just really rude on your part.
Reply:Nope I say you are totally right to feel this way next time just give a gift card that what me %26amp; my husband do to our in-laws and it's great nobody complains and they can but their own d**m gift.My mother in-law did that for her husband and every year he would complain and now she's gone so I bet he really regrets that last Christmas since she died so close to Christmas.
Reply:The correct response from your mother in law would be to stay quiet and, if she found the gift genuinely distasteful, return it herself.

She could then subtly hint in future about what she may prefer.

However, your correct response, in this instance, is to batter her over the head with the offending item and then claim you cannot return it as it is now damaged.

I hope she will then see the folly of her ways.

WHAT do you get in your STOCKING at christmas?

usually for me, half of it is filled with candy and in the top part there are gift cards, lotions, lip gloss, small gifts like a necklace, etc. then next to the stockings might be a gift basket with gourmet hot chocolate or something like that. we always have to open our stockings before gifts.

how about you?

WHAT do you get in your STOCKING at christmas?
ya I always open my stocking first as well and it usually has chocolate and then makeup and stuff in it similar to yours

merry christmas =]
Reply:same we open them first.

they usually have panties :)

tic tacs, chocolate.

socks. makeup. cute little things.
Reply:Yeah, I have to look in stocking before gifts too. I don't know why, but last year, I got underwear and candy in my stocking. Very odd.

V-day gift for an engaged woman and he fiance (21 yrs old)?

I'm looking at making her a gift basket with stuff from Bath and Body Works. It's gonna be a fun kinda 'sexy' gift basket. I've already got a pair of fuzzy handcuffs to put in.

Can you browse their website and link me to some things you think would be fun?

ONLY stuff from Bath and Body Works please. and try to keep it under or around $50,

Thanks sooo much!

V-day gift for an engaged woman and he fiance (21 yrs old)?
they have an aromatherapy line and two of the things are "sensual" they are supposed to be infused with pheromones that put you in the mood (they work, trust me) there's one thats called black currant vanilla and another is jasmine vanilla... the candle works really well if lit about an hour before all the fun ; ) but they have lotion and all kinds of stuff...
Reply:no prob! i like the black currant vanilla one myself... hope she likes them : ) Report It
Reply:what's a v-day? is it what i think it is..?
Reply:Dumb question - I always assumed you buy a gift/card/whatever for your PARTNER only - it's not a generic gift giving day!
Reply:Gotta love the candles! Hope you have a great night!

Get well soon gift?

A woman I work with has been sick and a little down for a few days and me and a few other people at work want to send her a gift.

What would you like if something was being sent to you -

Flowers or a gift basket with candy and tea and stuff like that?

Get well soon gift?
Flowers are always a safe bet.
Reply:How about a card with a gift certificate to her favorite lunch spot. Invite her to make a lunch date when she returns so that you guys can all catch her up on the office drama.
Reply:I agree with Maeve-a gift basket is a nice touch, can be filled with snacks and boredom killers for inpatient use and as a decoration for the home when the patient is discharged.

Gourmet English Tea Baskets for the Holidays?

My boss is english and I would like to find a very nice gourmet gift basket that contains authentic english teas and biscuits. I am not english so I'm not sure what to look for, but I would the basket to have authentic english/high teas %26amp; biscuits etc...something she could truly appreciate. If you are english and/or know about high teas would love to know your opinion on the matter and where to find a great basket. If you know of a URL that has what I am looking for please let me know. Again I am looking on the lines of something very nice.

Gourmet English Tea Baskets for the Holidays?
i know a lot about teas, but not english teas. Mostly green and white and oolong tea. But I'd like to suggest an electric tea kettle if he doesn't have one. I'm getting one for Christmas and I'm very excited. see if he has one, and get one, especially if he likes to drink tea.

Reply:You can't go wrong with Earl Grey and English breakfast teas.

Earl grey has bergamot, or bergamot scent which is an uplifting oil. It is a nice refreshing tea that is popular.

English breakfast is probably a more filling type of tea.

My brother in law is English and he enjoys many types of teas, I have given him treat packs that include specialty herbal teas and organic teas and he enjoys different ones on different occasions.

So you may like to give her the two types of teas I mention at the top, and then something more exotic - like an organic herbal blend - even just a peppermint(if you are worried about getting too exotic).

Often those gift boxes have shortbread biscuits in them. But I have given my brother-in-law delicate specialty chocolates with his teas and he has seemed to enjoy that.

You could also go for some jams - those packs often have jams so they can have jam on toast or scones with their tea.

I would use a nice organic raspberry, strawberry or blackberry if you find them otherwise non-organic. But using organic products gives it a nice special effect.

You could also include a lovely cup and saucer or tea pot, or even a tea ball - this is a little ball that you can put tea leaves in and leave in a cup to set (instead of using a tea bag), handy for work or travel when a tea pot is less convenient.

Obviously it all depends on how much you want to spend and how many teas you are using, as to what other items you could add to your basket.

That is, of course, if you decide to make up your own basket for her.

A question for Nurses...gift?

I'm going to be checking into the hospital soon and I'd like to take a gift basket to the nurses. Last time I filled it with $3 items from Bath %26amp; Body Works, like moisturizer and hand sanitizer. I put a bunch of these small items in a basket in my room and asked each nurse/staff member who came in to take one. They seemed to really like it, and it helped me establish relationships with my caregivers.

Can you tell me what you'd like to see in a gift basket? The items have to be inexpensive, so I can get enough for everyone working different shifts. Also, I won't be able to eat at first, so I don't want to put food or candy in the basket. That would make me crazy!

Thanks for your help!

A question for Nurses...gift?
How wonderful you are! That means so much that you would want to show your appreciation to the nurses. I love that.

I'm sorry that you are going into the hospital. I hope you have a complication free recovery!

Well, bath and body stuff never hurts every time - lotion, hand sanitizer, hot chocolate mix, tea bags, lip balm, ink pens, stickers, gum/mints (if you can handle that), Inspirational cards - the little cards you find that have quotes, bible verses on them......you can get them at Christian book stores, book markers, etc.

Nurses do their job because they love what they do, but patients like you help us through the hard times. We usually get complaining patients that we can't make happy.

I think you are great.

All the best to you!
Reply:I wish you were my patient! lol. You know, other than candy/food the best present for nurses is to have a positive attitude. We encounter so much negativity, a patient who smiles and is nice to us is such a breath of fresh air. I could never recommend any other gift than that. Thank you for being so thoughtful.
Reply:key chains, scratch off tickets(they'll love them),lip balm is a good one I saw someone else suggest
Reply:some coloring books, candy, a small stuft animal (bears are cute) a get well soon card, and some flowers for sure!
Reply:First off, let me tell you that you rock!

Lip balms, tea bags, hand lotions, scratch lotto tickets (they are cheap here, not sure about where you live). Try to find a dollar store... you can find all kinds of goodies there for a dollar or less.

Good luck with everything.... you are a sweetpea!

Ok girls AND guys i need help on fathers day gift i have an idea?

Ok, heres my idea i plan to get a boxs of white fake rose pedals and in black permanent marker write love massages on them, make an invitation for my hubby that hes invited to a party just for the two of us and leave it in his lunch box that morning and when he gets home there will be instuctions on the door to follow the rose pedals and at the end will be a nude pic or a paper telling him what im going to do then the pedals will lead to the bathroom where every thing for his shower is waiting for him, then right on the outside of the door i will put a gift basket for him of things that will remind him of when we first go together while hes in the shower then another rose pedal trail that leads him back to the living room where i will be waiting with a sheet on the floor and two chairs in the middle of it one for him to sit in and the other as a prop to give him a strip tease. any suggestions to improve it and how to word the invatation.

Ok girls AND guys i need help on fathers day gift i have an idea?

Can anyone help with inexpensive advertising ideas?

I opened a baby gift basket and diaper cake business, but I don't have much money for advertisement and would like to find some inexpensive forms of advertising.

Can anyone help with inexpensive advertising ideas?

Everybody also thinks if they see your business in the local paper then it must be a good place. Also offer word of mouth discounts. If one of your customers refers you to someone else, they both get 10% off their next order or something to that nature. Good luck.

How do you tell someone you don't like the gift they gave you?

We all know that yesterday was Valentine's Day. And after almost seven years of marriage, my husband gives me a gift basket! A gift basket! To me a gift basket is something you give your neighbor, your mother-in-law or even a co-worker. No real thought goes into a gift basket. Someone else carefully selected the items and placed them in a basket. Most of the items in there are things I don't even like. My feelings are hurt.

Now that I've had time to think about it, I know a lot of things I could have said to him, but didn't. Now it's to late to say these things. How to I bring up the subject the day after the gift was given to tell him how I feel?

How do you tell someone you don't like the gift they gave you?
You sound spoiled and unappreciative. You said it took no real thought, if he had no real thought he would have bought you 'nothing'! Maybe he should have given it to his co-worker, they would have probably appreciated it! If the worse thing you encounter in life is a 'gift disappointment' then I'd say life has been pretty darn good to you...try and appreciate it!!!
Reply:Well for one, be grateful you have someone to share the holiday's with.

For two....we have to know that men are totally different operating machines. Females look at it like this "I really lov ehim and care about him, so Im going to go through all the trouble to pick out something special for him. Ill give it a lot of thought and he will be so thrilled!!!"

Then a man thinks "Hey look, a gift basket! Now all the hard work is cutt out! I see a few things she likes in here, she recieves a gift on Valentine's day and it's got the color red."

So you have to give them a major head's up. I tell my husband a few things that I would like for this small holiday. I say "Fine chocolates, small gift card, small piece of jewelry." then I let him make the descion. It's ok to tell people what you want, b/c they you will wind up with something you dont want...like what happened with you.

I would say this "You know, first off I really want to tell you that I am so lucky your my husband. I love you and you are so sweet and thoughtful and caring and I just adore you. I am so grateful that you got me something on Valentine's Day! The fact that you remembered and thought of me was so sweet!

But, the gift you got me just doesnt fit me........ I mean I'll use it because you got it for me and that makes it special but it's my fault I didnt drop a few hints of what I like....so next time I will. Thank you! I love you!"

Good Luck!!!
Reply:I know how you feel. One year for Christmas, my husband and I also got a gift basket.. but from my parents. I felt insulted. I would just blow this off. Your husband meant well and probably just didn't know what to get you. What I would suggest though is to just give him hints of what you like and hopefully he'll get you one of those things. I know we shouldn't have to do stuff like that, but if it means that much to you to get something you like, then that's about all you can do. Casually ask him where he got the idea for your gift and see what he says.
Reply:Well I must say I am not married so the advice I give might not be very useful. [I am in a relationship though] Your husband is a guy you face your whole life. I am guessing that if you don’t tell him that you don’t like the gift and other things, you might burst it on him some day and he would have question marks all over his head.

My friend did tell me once [as I buy gifts for my boyfriend almost every month and his birthday and on occasions] that I might run out of gift for him one day. I am not siding your husband but maybe he did run out of ideas what to give you and when he walk in the mall as he was walking pass a shop it say gift basket for valentine!!! And he was blinded by the fancy wrapping and all the advertising that out of a burst of anxiousness to grab his wife something he got the gift basket.

How about you darling did you get your husband something? Did he like it? Well you can sit down with him and ask him, if he like he gift you gave him or is it useful to him.

Look through the gift basket and see if there is anything you like [I know you don’t like most of the things in it.] pick up those that you like or is useful as household items [food or drinks] leave the rest a side. Then tell him you like this particular item that is in the gift basket. Tell him how useful the others are [household items] [thank him never the less gibe him credit for making to trip to get you the gift =D] and tell him but you don’t know what to do with the others [things you don’t like] make him think the next time when he buys you a gift.

Then maybe when your out with him next time shopping drop some hints to him [things that are affordable for him to buy and you need it or you really want it] well I will say this to my boyfriend “O how nice it [the thing that you want] would be for a Valentine's Day gift, it would be perfect!” Or "Look dear isn't this lovely [then touch the thing abit to show that you like the thing]" =D but don’t say it too many times you might irritate him.

I hope it helps =D
Reply:Sometimes guys really do not remember silly holidays like Valentine's thats why those gift baskets they sell during Valentines, Mother's day, etc. are so lucrative. Since most men are too busy being in their own world to remember these days.

Tell him how you feel but don't make him feel bad. Reassure him that he shouldn't feel bad.

I really think that it is just not fair for us to expect husbands and boyfriends to do things for us on Valentine's day. It's a made up holiday. It's not like Valentine's day is to celebrate the women in the relationship. It suppose to celebrate the couple in the relationship. I do hope you got him a gift or else there is no reason to have your feelings to be hurt.
Reply:Why not think about the gifts he gives you the other 364 days and TRUST me I am not talking about materialistic gifts. I have been reading so many responses from women that we're unhappy with the gifts their mates gave them on this one damn dumb day and I think you are alll ridiculous. Does your man not show you love the other 364 days? Does he not respect you and honor his vows? If so....put on your big girl panties and get a REAL issue. My man insisted on getting me candy and all I wanted was 2 puzzle books because V'day is bull. I have a wonderful man who shows me love everyday and I refuse to mess with that because societies bullsh*t date says I should receive something wonderful on Feb 14 .
Reply:I don't think you should criticize anyone's GIFT. Let's face it, a GIFT is something freely given, that you know you have no right to expect, that you didn't pay for. And what did you give your husband that was so much better, anyway? He probably gave you the gift basket because it was showy and because his mind went blank and he didn't know what else to do. And now it's too late, anyway. I suggest that next time a gift-giving is about to come up (say, your birthday) you talk to him and say, "if you are thinking of getting me anything, here are some ideas of what I'd like". And you could help things further by being sure, when his birthday is coming up, to ask him what HE'D like. If you criticize his gift now, it's like you're saying, "you don't love me enough", or "you have to love me in a certain way". It would be better if you found a way to suggest to him that next time, he try to find out what would please you first.
Reply:From now on do not hint, ask or tell him nicely. I hate that women constantly "hint" at what they want, then expect guys to get it. Remember one additional thing when you do ask for what you want, it is not what you say it is how you say it.

By the way, I dropped hints at my significant other and found she did not get it either, then later I made it a point to tell her so. Works both ways!
Reply:Your feelings are hurt because you don't like A GIFT.

Go look in the dictionary under GIFT.

A GIFT is given for good will.

One is not obligated to GIVE a GIFT.

To consider that a GIFT is somehow not good enough is perhaps the most selfish and self centered attitude a person can adopt.

Is this guy supposed to be tapped into your subconscious definition of what a GIFT is supposed to be and not be.

Frankly, if a person told me that they did not like my GIFT.

I would take it back, return it if I could or give it to someone else and it would be the LAST GIFT they saw from me for a very long time.

Imagine the women who did not get so much as a "happy Valentine's Day" from their mate.

This is disgusting. Count your blessings and learn to appreciate that he got you something. As it is you appear like a selfish brat.

Grow UP.
Reply:It's the thought that counts. How about stopping the gift giving on Valentines' Day?

My husband always buys me great gifts, but I think Valentines' Day is nothing more then an overbloated Hallmark holiday. I told him let's just exchange cards and he cooked me dinner - it was awesome! Tonight I am cooking him dinner. I think it's the way to go.
Reply:I wouldn't say anything. It will only hurt his feelings. Guys are just dumb sometimes.
Reply:Sweetie, a gift basket is okay, trust me.
Reply:BE THANKFUL HE REMEMBERED MOST GUYS DO NOT REMEMBER IN TIME
Reply:If you want to continue receiving gifts, then you don't. All your criticism (no matter how nicely put) will do, is discourage him and make him not want to get you anything. Just remember his heart was in the right place and he was thinking of you---some women don't get anything from their husbands.

Also remember what his fall back gift is and in the future start leaving obvious hints or just out right tell him what you would like. Give him several options to choose from so that you are still surprised.
Reply:Tell him TODAY. Only one day has passed. Tell him What you said Above. He may have just been "desperate" that he wasn't "Better Prepared" and didn't want to come home Empty Handed. Talk to him today. tell him how you feel. Good Luck !!
Reply:Just thank him and act nice, you are very lucky a few of my friends don't even get their wives/girlfriends gifts as they don't believe in valentines day they think its just the shops trying to make money
Reply:You shouldn't say anything, be gracious and thankful that he took the time to go out and buy you a gift basket.
Reply:you are lucky he tried and if you tell him then you will only hurt his feelings. i didn't even get anything. so just be glad he thought about you. not only that this is what you do. go out and buy yourself something that you would like.

best will get the 10 pts. thanks.

College survival gift...?
Oh yes, First use a laundry basket for the basket. Add flip flops for shower shoes. A plastic basket with handle for her to put her bathroom supplies into to take them to the showers. Laundry soap. A roll of quarters. Sheets/new comforter set for her bed in the dorm. (Usually a twin) Toiletries items that she uses. High-liters,pencil,pens,paper,folders SCHOOL SUPPLIES!

I hoped this helped.

Good Luck and Bless U both!
Reply:I've had the opportunity to do this twice. Once I just got a book bag. A nice one, back packy kindof thing with wheels.

The other time, things were really tight, but I wanted to do something 'survival' in nature, so, I went to a dollar tree... got a clothes basket, laundry detergent, bleach, dryer sheets, and i forget what all. topped it off with a gift card to a nationwide drugstore chain. (Aspirin, hair color, some food available at any store she went to)

I think you can give them oil painting from their photo means turn their photo in oil painting it will create nice impression on them.

Capture that special moment.turn it into a masterpiece that will last forever!

i suggest u to look at this site i think it will help u,

A great idea for a personal and unique gift is a handmade painting made from a photo that you send.

Check out this site: http://www.portrait2000.com

They have many samples here http://www.portrait2000.com/samples.htm

The prices are reasonable and the outcome is amazing.
Reply:Let's see...some sort of energy drink. I'm allergic to caffeine, but I know most colleges run on that stuff. There's a gum out now that has caffeine in it too- if you can find that get it. Get a cheap day planner type of thing. Don't spend too much on it because it's mostly a gag gift- hardly anyone uses them. Sticky notes save lives. Highlighters are good. Ramen noodles and canned soup. Spoons and forks. Laundry detergent and/or dish soap.

You don't know what his favorite candy is????? Try to find a sneaky way of finding out! If you get him what he really likes it will show him that you're interested in pleasing him, that you've taken time to know him, and that you like surprising him!
