What do you think about a raffle at my baby shower?

What does everyone think about a raffle for a big gift basket like where everyone buys a ticket and the money goes to the baby since its my baby shower and at the end of the shower raffle off a basket full of things like candles soaps ETC? How much should the tickets be?

What do you think about a raffle at my baby shower?
First of all, if it's your baby, you shouldn't be hosting or planning the shower. Someone else should be throwing the shower and planning the activities for you. That is Rule #1 of shower etiquette: you DO NOT throw your own shower (especially for a second baby).

Secondly, any kind of "fundraising" activities at a party, including money trees, cash raffles, etc., are very tacky. People are already coming to the shower and bringing you gifts to help you get started. You shouldn't be hitting them up for cash, too. The idea of a "diaper raffle" is one thing, but cash? Uh uh.
Reply:This time, I did a diaper raffle. Anyone who wanted to participate brought a small package of diapers and were entered to win a Starbuck's Gift Card.

At my 1st baby shower, we had a diaper raffle with the same concept but the prize was two movie tickets and some yummy movie food items basically for decoration. People seemed to like it.
Reply:hi! I had a raffle at mine--- but instead of BUYING the tix, in the invitation it instructed to buy a package of diapers, size __ if you want to be included in the raffle for a gift basket---

The basket was awesome, and I got TONS of dipeys that lasted me till she was a couple months old.

What a help that was!!!!
Reply:My shower is on Sat. and we are having everyone bring a pack of diapers, and that is their ticket to enter the raffe. We are raffling off a very nice bath set, personally I think that asking for money would be a bit up front, and I would not do that.
Reply:What you could do is get a nice gift or a gift certificate and ask everyone to bring a package of diapers.....for every package they bring they will get one entry into the raffle. You can then pull a name for the gift.
Reply:I don't like the idea. Even family members might be put off by giving money after they have already bought a gift. I personally would probably feel obligated to buy a raffle ticket but I would be a little ticked about it.
Reply:Your guests have already brought you a gift. Don't reach your hand out for more.
Reply:I personally don't like the idea. The guests are already bringing gifts, so why milk them for money too?
Reply:chee-zee!

you shoudln't even be having a shower as a "mom of 2"
