Need ideas for big sister gift baskets for my 11 year old and my 7 year old (both girls).Thank you!?

The 11 year old is a preteen so she'll like anything if you tell her its cool. Mascara (if you clear it with her guardian) or lipglosses, and hair decorations. Also try cool socks. And does she have her ear pierced?

The seven year old you can stick to toys. Activity books, paints, crayons or markers, play dough even. Maybe a keychain to go on her backpack. How about books? Theres a wonderful pair of chapter books for kids called Wayside School is Falling Down, and Sideways Stories from Wayside School. You could even read to her, or with her.

Most girls will like a cute stuffed animal. Some kids really like scratch tickets. And add in some candy or bubble gum. Good luck!

Seeing that spring is right around the corner put together baskets with all activities that can be done outside. ex: jump ropes, chalk, sidewalk paint, bubble blowing guns, water balloons. If you don't mind me asking what is the occaision, I might have some better ideas.
Reply:Make custom iron-ons for t-shirts that say "big sister."

Then include all sorts of things they can do on their own while Mom is busy taking care of the newborn--single-serving cups of Easy-Mac, DVDs, Klutz activity books (klutz.com), etc. Maybe include scrapbooking material so they can make a scrapbook for their new sibling--and be sure to include a photo frame for each child so they can each have a photo of them with their new sibling. OOh, and if they don't have digital cameras, buy each one a disposable digital camera (they have them at CVS) to record their new siblings' first days.



I'd also include a hand-written note from you telling each one why they are special and will always have a special place in your heart no matter where they fall in the birthing order.
