Anyone like to fish a lot? Please help with gift idea!?

I want to make a friend a gift basket for Christmas and I thought I would make a fishing gift basket since they love to fish (river fishing). What would be some good things to put in the basket? I don't want to put stuff in there they probably won't use, so I want to get some good universal fishing stuff (or even anything related to fishing!) Thanks in advance for any help!

You can't go wrong with tools like pliers ect.. but honestly if you don't know much about fishing I would get a gift card to a sporting store such as a bass pro or cabela's that way he/she could get exactly what they want or need for their tackle box. I know it's a little impersonal but if you write a note on the card explaning what your intentions are it should be fine
Reply:How about fishing hooks and some bate and things like that too? About Christmas is that o,k. with you?
Reply:floats-hooks-line-fishing reels-rods-no maggots unless they are the funny chocolate ones you can buy in a tin-bait box,etc-every thing for a beginer.

a boat would be nice also.how big is the basket/you dont say.
Reply:Its hard to find the right gift especially if you don't fish your self, so you have set your self a large task so i Will try to help find some every day fishing items that would help fill up your gift basket

The best two places to buy equipment from (in my view) are cabelas and bass pro

you can find them here,

http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...

and cabelas are

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...

Now for equipment, one thing you cant go wrong with is fishing line whether it be for re spooling your reel or whatever, try these however they can get a little expensive but are good quality and will suit there needs

buy this in 6,8 and 10lb tests

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...

This is good for anything and get it in 6lb test if you can

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...

Any of thses tackle bags will do so find one in your price range

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...

Tools like these are useful but not grat quality try gerber or leatherman if you have more money to spend

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...

A good filleting knife is always good

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...

Try these crankbaits although the ones made by rapala are the best try any jointed version

Hope that helps, AIRFLO
Reply:There's this hat that tickles me. Green cotton baseball cap and matching Tshirt that says Here Fishy Fishy. Go to a sporting goods site, and to a sporting goods store to ask what kind of flies river fishers use. If he lays bait on the bottom for such fish as catfish, he'll apppreciate weights -- they come in sizes -- and bobbers.

Extra line, Curad bandaids (better adhesive), a small tube of campho-phenique (kills pain instantly), mosquito repellant that WORKS.

A good paperback book, something he can read with lunch, by an outdoorsman.

I think you can give them oil painting from their photo means turn their photo in oil painting it will create nice impression on them.

Capture that special moment.turn it into a masterpiece that will last forever!I suggest u to look at this site i think it will help u, A great idea for a personal and unique gift is a handmade painting made from a photo that you send.

Reply:Great idea! Ok the basket could actually be a cooler that you put the fish in, then lures are always good, hooks, line, reels, hand warmers (for fishing in the cold) a thermos and packets of cocoa (again for the cold days) a net.

But of course if he is fly fishing you would need to buy different stuff.

If you have the money how about a certificate for a fishing trip?
Reply:If they are river fishing you might want to consider buying some specialize line. One made of flourocarbon ( eg Berkley Vanish) Flourocarbon is visible above the water but invisible below... Get something like 8 or 10 pound test. Also a pair of polarized sun glasses. They don't have to be expensive, but if they are fishermen you can never have enough pairs of glasses.
Reply:A multi-tool is a great gift for one that has everything. Link below is just one brand that's on the market (this be one by Leatherman, which I prefer). Gerber is another reputable brand name. Check out your local Walmart store for the best prices ;)...

There was mention of Polarized sunglasses (another item that can be had at "Wally World" ;)) is somethin' to consider. I fish rivers and have used Polarized type "Shades" and their great ~ lets one see in the water much better than the naked eye! Howwwever, what with me bein' in the ancient age category, I'm spoiled and stick with my old, OLD Wayfarer 2's (just thought I'd throw that in) ;) ;)...
Reply:buy them some line and some hooks.a pole would be nice but your gonna have a hard time stuffing that in a basket good idea
Reply:Hi a good camping bed is all ways a good gift and if you just wanna go on fishing gear, The rubber tackel works well.

Happy to help. William Bashasm.

P.S you can get a bucket of the rubber teckel at most fishing tackel shop's and a real of fishing line helps as well.
Reply:I got one of these once, it was an awesome personal gift, especially for a fisherman.

It had Mt. Dew %26amp; pizzaria pretzel Combos (The ultimate fishing food!)

Some various lures,(you can't go wrong with any like crankbaits, worms, spinnerbait, etc...the new Chatterbait Kit is AWESOME!)

A fish shaped beer can "coolie" holder.

My latest favorite fishing tools in the tackle box are a digital 50 lb. Rapala scale with built in green light on LCD, and their pliers/hemostat combo...

Hats are good for sun %26amp; rain...

Frogg Toggs PA109 in large will be my next fishing purchase, check them out, because it sucks to get wet hours before weigh-in.

A lot of guys on the tournament also have "Solar Bat" polarized shades, but I went with the bad@$$ Oakley 12-752 polarized fishing shades...Sawwweet, for $170 though!

Just a few ideas from a die hard fishing fan! :)
Reply:dont forget every fisherman should have a small camera so they can take a picki of their catch
Reply:buy fishing line poles reels a net good luck
