Do you have any inexpensive gift ideas for the elderly?

My Girl Scout Troop will be visiting an elderly home during Christmas. We would like to bring 3-4 baskets with a few small gifts wrapped in each basket. I'm looking for some inexpensive ideas that they would like or would be useful for them. Any ideas!?

Do you have any inexpensive gift ideas for the elderly?
Socks, fruit, crossword puzzle books, puzzles, decks of cards, paperback books, bags of microwave popcorn or similar chips/snacks....postage stamps, envelopes...
Reply:I used to work at a fabric store, and on christmas a group of ladies took 3.5" x 4" cuts of fleece and cut the ends and tie tassled them... made wonderful lap blankies for the ladies and cheapie gifts from the heart...
Reply:Mommy,

Try these! Probably best as stocking stuffers or a secret santa type of thing. They are cheap and don't look it.All ages. Good for holding up pictures of grand kids on refrigerators.

They have a great holiday special going on. I just bought a bunch.
Reply:soft, warm socks, decks of cards, books, magazines, cookies, These are some of the things asked for,I used to have a girl scout troop and we did that too.God bless you and Merry Christmas !
Reply:Not to be crude, but skip any food items that contain a lot of sugar or have nuts as a lot of the elderly have a hard time chewing. If you'd like to go with candy, get sugar-free. What about fruit? You can never go wrong there. Maybe an apple, orange, and a banana? If it's women, maybe a pretty pin to put on a sweater or a coat? Some gloves, a hat, or socks as a lot of them do sit outside during the winter months.
Reply:I think candles or potpourri are wonderful! Holiday music CDs are also loved by all ages. Good luck!
Reply:Candles aren't very practical and stronlgy scented stuff is discouraged.

Some great ideas are warm socks/booties, crossword puzzle books (guess those aren't small---sorry), stationary sets, small photo frames, linen spray
