my co-workers son is sick very sick in the hospital and me and another co-worker think we should send a gift basket for the son who is 14 or 15 . my question is what can we make the gift basket have? i am not sure about what foods he is able to eat, so i was thinking games and stuff that will keep him entertained. unfortunately money is tight so i need something inexpensive any ideas? thanks
Whats the best get well gift?
ask his mother what he's like ............he may have had some things from family and friends already...............It is a good idea to get him something and kind of you all............if he's prognosis is good maybe pay for him to attend something he likes sporting or pay for paint balling or karting.so he has something to look forward to .......if the prognosis is poor still try to give something to add to his memories .......hope this helps
Reply:I agree with the other posters, talk to his mom to see what he's interested in and get him some magazines in those interests.
I would also ask about the foods he can eat and put some of those foods in the basket, I'm sure he is wanting some of the foods he likes.
games, magazines, foods, candy, gift cards to McDonald's Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, any fast food or ice cream places, etc.
Phone card for him to call some friends.
Gift card to iTunes if he has an ipod.
I hope some of these ideas help and that your friend's son is feeling better soon.
Reply:Magazines, sudoku, crosswords, word searches.
I just got out of the hospital, and my mom rented the TV for me (that was the BEST GIFT EVER!!!).
Send some bottles of water. Hospital food is wretched. Ask the coworker if her son has allergies and send in a chocolate bar in the basket (or some candies...just make sure that they're peanut free).
There are so many sports magazines, so grab a couple of them. When I was in the hospital, magazines provided endless amusement since I was so drugged up I could spend hours re reading the whole magazine.
Reply:You can pick up a rubic's cube at Wal Mart for about $5 and it comes with the solution. It can provide hours of idle fun. Other than that - game books like crossword puzzles, etc. You might also ask if he is into a specific sport. Then you could include a magazine subsciption, so he has something new to look forward to every month.
Reply:get some like crossword puzzle or sudoku books... or like mad-libs things that can be fun/funny while in a sucky place. try getting some lollipops or tootsierolls... maybe you could get a gift card for like jamba juice, and have his mom bring him a smootie or something fun, but easily nutrious... so it shouldn't be as issue if he can have it or not...
maybe like a book too... ask his mom what things he's into... get comic books or a harry potter, or rl stine or something like that...
Reply:magazines, comic books, download some movies and burn them onto dvds yourself, travel size board games (can be inexpensive relatively speaking), crossword puzzles, soduku puzzles
Reply:Go to a book store and look at the magazines. If he is into skateboarding get one of those, games, they have those also.
