I work in the accounting department for a hospital and each department has to create a gift basket to be raffled off for a fund raiser. The basket and contents are supposed to reflect what each department does. For example, the Labor %26amp; Delivery department put together a very cute baby bathtub filled with various baby items. We're not feeling very creative! Does anyone have any good ideas or themes?
I need gift basket ideas!?
Well, since it's supposed to reflect what you do, you could use calculators, pens, pencils, calendars, maybe a stress ball since accounting is stressful, stamps and envelopes (paying bills), and anything else you can think of that you use in your job.
EDIT: You could also include a book on managing your finances or something like that.
Reply:Yeah, I feel you on this one. I've been through this a couple times, and as a member of the accounting department, it's always a bit of a stretch to come up with something fun associated with our distinctly no-nonsense job function.
My advice would be to put something really cool in the basket, and then toss in a few cheap things that make a loose connection between the real prize and the accounting department.
For example, the actual gift could be an i-Pod, which people would be bound to actually want to win in a raffle. To make it the accounting basket, fill the bottom with shredded green-bar paper, put in a box of pencils, a ruler, some other various office supplies that you can "borrow" from the supply room. Lastly, see if you can find a couple of CDs with some sort of link to accounting or finance. You know what I mean, something like albums or singles from Eddie Money, Johnny Cash, and 50 Cent.
It's not exactly sweet and fun like the baby stuff, but it will still be something that people will actually want to win.
Reply:Get a briefcase (Target sells them for $20), open it up, and fill it with a large calulator,
a thermos, coffees (they sell starbucks at the grocery store), or a pound from duncan donuts
pens, pencils in a pencil cup, (maybe highlighter)
a calendar,
maybe a desk clock,
money clip,
notebook, planner,
current wall street journal or forbes
Whenever you fill it up, you can throw goodies in there as well (cookies, muffins, candy), put shrink wrap around it ($1), and it will look really nice
I don't know, labor and delivery had it much easier!
Reply:Depends on the budget %26amp; time constraints, Think about the actual basket. It could be a bankers box or an overflowing, wire, "in basket", bound up in the cellophane wrap. You could include a spiral bound bill paying organizer. They are sold everywhere. Include a large calculator, pens, pencils... a plant, a small photo frame...office junk. If time allows, you can find cute and funky office stuff online. I would make certain to include snack stuff. You know there is always someone in the office with a shoe box of "emergency supply snacks" in the back of their file cabinet. This could be a slightly humorous basket.
Reply:Sure put in stationary, pens, mugs, and a large bottle of Tylenol. They will get a kick out of that. Then you could go with a relaxing basket for after work.Wine, glasses, cheeses, paper plates, napkins and a large chocolate bar.hope this helps....
