Pregnancy Gift Suggestions?

I just found out that a relative is having another baby (her first passed away shortly after birth about 5 years ago). I would like to give her a Pregnancy Gift Basket some time in December and would like suggestions. I would also like an idea of something I could include for her husband. It's taken them a long time to deal with the loss, so I want to make it happy.

Her belly has as many scars as mine (kindof like the topography of the moon). They itch. I would like suggestions for a cream that would soothe and prevent the itching as time goes on, since preventing more stretch marks is sortof pointless.

Any other gift suggestions would be appreciated!

Pregnancy Gift Suggestions?
What a great idea for your friend!

Some of the ideas I have are:

Preggie Pops

Belli Cosmestics gift set

Bella Band

Hand massager for her back and legs

Pregnancy journal to chronicle this pregnancy

Prenatal massage or pedicure gift certificate

Pregnancy pillow - I can't sleep w/out mine at all

Sonogram picture frame

Maternity pjs or robe

Mederma for the scars

Cute maternity shirt - 2chix.com has great ones

For dad-to-be:

Picture frame - I just bought this 1 for my husband: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp...

Cute t-shirt about his dad-to-be status (again, 2chix.com!)

His own diaper bag

Hope this helps!
Reply:Thanks so much Dante's Mommy. I tried to vote you as Best Answer, but it had already gone to voting. GREAT ideas! Report It
Reply:OH THAT'S GREAT... IF YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE HAVING THEN GET THEM THINGS FOR THE SEX OF THE BABY... ANYTHING WILL BE HELPFUL. BOTTLES,PAMPERS, WIPES, SHAMPOO,CREAMS, BOTTLE BRUSH, WELL ALL THAT AND MORE... I USED COCOA BUTTER ON MY BELLY THAT ALWAYS HELPED ... GOOD LUCK TO THEM!!!!!
Reply:HI, maybe you can try the following website. There is something especially for kids. From now till Christmas 2007, 15% off on any orders over $20 dollars. Just enter "xmas2007" during checkout. And now they will give a free extra gift so far as you buy anything. Join their "get the word out" promotion, you can get voucher for the next purchase.
Reply:for a cream get BIO OIL It works wonders,.and or a mommy to be t-shirt
Reply:A great idea for a care package (basket) would be to put things in it that will pamper her. Mederma is an excellent skin creme used to minimize the appearance of already formed stretch marks. Also, get her a manicure and pedicure from the local nail shop, and maybe a nice robe.
Reply:Bath and body works has "flavored" cocoa butter stuff. My best friend got me some last Christmas while I was pregnant that was marshmallow. It smelled SO GOOD, I wanted to eat it!

I'm still on the fence about if it really helps for stretch marks, but even if it didn't, I bet she'd like that.

I'm not sure what scents they have, but you'd probably find some other ideas as well while you were in there.

Something nice just for her might be a gift certificate for a manicure and/or pedicure at a local nail salon. Might be something to just lift her spirits and make her feel good.
Reply:just get her stuff the baby really needs, no matter what youll get her the baby is gonna need it, trust me!!! im currently 35 weeks pregnant and i itch alot too, this whole pregnancy i been usuing cocoa butter with the pregnant woman on the front and so far i dont have any stretch marks on my belly...im keepin my fingers crossed tho
Reply:Diapers, wipes and ointment Oh MY!
Reply:Maybe some slippers or massage oils that her and her husband could use on each other. Cocoa butter lotion to help with stretch marks.

Valentines Day gift for my fiance...?

My fiance and I have been together for 3 1/2 years and we NEVER make a big deal out of Valentines Day, but this year I was thinking about doing something special. I am going to make him his favorite dinner and I was thinking about making him a gift basket with a few things in it.

Boxers

Candies

Massage Oils

Picture of us

and a list of 10 things I love about him, but I am having trouble being creative with my list. Any suggestions on the list or on what else I can add to the basket?

Valentines Day gift for my fiance...?
for the boxers, go to a store like Macy's to the men's dept. and find some that are for valentines day, with little hearts or kisses or cupids, etc. they're cute, and only you will know he's wearing them. for the chocolate, give him Hersey's kisses, lol. why not take the picture and put it in a little silver frame? get one of those gag item coupon books, where each ticket says something like "FREE; a hug and a kiss", or "you win a back rub and bubble bath", etc. i don't remember where i saw them, but try Spencer's Gifts if there's one near you. oh, here's a GOOD one! Buy some VERY SEXY cologne for men at a Victoria Secret. It's named VERY SEXY for a reason. It really does smell sexy.

and since you are making him a basket, tell him you want to celebrate Valentine's Day this time. Make up your mind in advance what you'd like and TELL him... because guys don't take hints... they don't know what hints are. personally, me and hubby always celebrate it... it's a great day for romance no matter WHAT your age.
Reply:oooo the gift basket is such a great idea!!!

Maybe something like:

"Your personality captured my heart"

"I love when you act tough even though you are secretly very afraid of spiders" - or whateva he is afraid of lol

"I love your sexy butt"

"I love how you always know how to make me laugh"

"I love that you always know the right things to say"

"I love that even when i'm in the grumpiest mood you make me laugh"

"You are the H in my heart"

Ummm i dont know! lol. Its difficult because i'm obviously not you and i dont know your fiance from a bar of soap lol. Dont worry about being creative, just think about what you love and put them down!

xoxox
Reply:get white boxers and put paint on your lips and kiss them!
Reply:Well, seeing how the list is "10 things YOU love about him", you have to come up with your own stuff. But that stuff sounds cute. Maybe throw in a mix cd with songs that remind you of him. And maybe your favorite cologne.
Reply:think of a lovely Shakespeare stanza and devise a means of formulating an interesting story out of it. after which you can organize some small thing for eating and then a bottle of wine. you need to reveal the secret box after making love
Reply:a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate, together those to make one heck of an aphrodisiac, and heaps romantic too

How would i advertise for this?

I am starting a gift basket business ( i am 13)

how would i let people know about this. online local ads?

How would i advertise for this?
First look for a free online advertising service in your area. There may be one and your problems are solved. Your ISP may allow you to set up a page listing your services. If not, look into one of the free hosting services, such as tripod (http://www.tripod.lycos.com) and build your own page or get some help to make one. Put up flyers on bulletin boards in places like groceries and laundromats with both your web address and phone number.

If not, many newspapers will list student-operated businesses and their services.

First, be certain you are old enough to legally operate a business. This may be a sticking point because in most of the United States, you are not old enough to enter into a binding contract. Just be sure before going to far.
Reply:craigslist.org is a good place to list stuff and it's free.

Christmas Gift for a girl?

i want to get/make a gift for a girl I like in my class. We talk a lot but I still don't know much about her to know what to get her. I was thinking a gift basket but I dont know how to make one or what to put in it. Umm I dont want to make it obvious that I like her because I'm not ready to tell her yet. I still want to learn more abuot her and have her learn more about me before I make a move that might turn out awkward and ruin the friendship. Also I don't know if she has a boyfriend yet. Any suggestions on what I can give her. No: Money/gift cards... Something thoughtful and creative. 60 bucks max.

Christmas Gift for a girl?
Burn a CD with songs you think she would enjoy. It shows you care about what she likes and she would appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness.
Reply:How old is she?

Get her 2 movie tickets and a dinner for 2. Maybe she'll get the hint.
Reply:A great book, a pendant necklace, a gift before you know her too well may not be the best thing though.

If you talk a lot than think back on those conversations and see if you can remember something that she likes or talks about a lot.
Reply:Why not a cd?
Reply:Um, maybe perfume!!!!! And roses!!!!!!
Reply:Why not bring up the holidays, ask if her family does much for Christmas, and at some point also ask what she hopes to get for gifts.

What she says, I would leave that to her family since they probably already know and may plan to get it for her. However...it *should* help give you an idea of what kind of things she's into. So maybe you could take that and find, say, a nice but inexpensive bracelet, pendent, funny socks, a book, or some other item *related* to what she seems to like.

One thing definitely, you don't want to go too overboard with it since you are still in the phase of trying to hint to her your feelings. Too much too soon and some people tend to back away pretty quick, ending any chances. Keep it nice but simple this time around. Too much might end up a bit awkward for you both.
Reply:Go and get her a gift set from bath and body works.
Reply:give her a stuffed bear holding candy. (m%26amp;ms, skittles, etc) candy and cute things.... gets girls every time and can be given to her without her realizing she likes you
Reply:How about a movie basket? As some girls in her age range what kinda chick flick they would like. Then get that DVD and a box of microwave popcorn (take them out of box),a cute girly kinda mug from a dollar store, put in hot cocoa or spiced cider mix(just a couple of packets inside the cup, also one of those big Hershey bars and a pack of red vines. While at the dollar store pick-up a basket that will hold all of this and gift basket cover. If you have enough money left over buy fake mistletoe and red curling ribbon from dollar store,Put it altogether and you have a thoughtful gift that doesn't scream romantic but whispers it ; {} I figured it up to be about $35. max
Reply:a gift basket is too much...flowers-jewelry of any kind are obvious that you have a crush on her...any thing that cost over 20 bucks is too much...so...

something like those really soft blankets that have cool colors or winter decorations

or a manicure set would be good

or learn more about her to find something less generic to buy her

13 yr. old girl Christmas gift ideas?

I know people ask this question a lot, but I read some and I still don't have a good answer. What are some things that a 13 yr. old girl would want for Christmas? I already have a cell phone %26amp; an iPod. And I hate getting gift cards, b/c I hate spending money, so money's out too. I don't know why I don't like it, but I don't, I love shopping though. I've already asked for a digital camera %26amp; a gift basket from Bath %26amp; Body Works. I don't want any CD's, b/c 1.)I have iTunes and 2.)I don't really listen to music besides my iPod. I already have a Nintendo DS, and don't want a PSP, %26amp; we can't afford a Wii. My grandparents are going to redo mine %26amp; my sister's room [[we share a room]] for out present from them. I'm not that big on concerts, magizines, boooks, and my mom already has A LOT of nail stuff. What else can I ask for, all I can find is the digital camera %26amp; the gift basket. I know you may think I'm spoiled or w/e, but I've gotton all this stuff over years %26amp; from different ppl

13 yr. old girl Christmas gift ideas?
clothes, jewelry, shoes, movie tickets for you and a friend, an animal, a tomato plant, an orange tree a rose bush, give a donation in your name to a charity, collectibles, invest in a piece of valuable art, a CD from the bank to put towards college, new bedding, new lamp, new games for your Nintendo, a subscription to somewhere, a robot, a telescope, DVDs, something to engage your mind like games, puzzles of different sorts, lessons for something, like cooking, horseback riding, knitting, sewing
Reply:Hairspray and Pirates of the Caribbean:At World's End on DVD !

(at least that's what I want and I'm almost 3 times your age!) ;)
Reply:ask for clothes every girl can use new clothes or purses or a new pair of heels. If you go to http://delias.com they have the cutest stuff you'll luv the stuff there sooooooo much you'll just want it all. It is so adorable. Please don't get playboy stuff that is for tramps and you're better than that, you'll look like a washed up hooker PLEASE DON"T LISTEN TO ABOVE! Playboy takes all women's dignaty and treats women like sex objects that were created for men's sick pleasures and I strongly object to that stuff--that's not cool! ur not spoiled!! merry christmas!!
Reply:A big screen TV and surround sound....
Reply:Do you have the new iPod Nano with video? I love it!! You can download your favorite movies and TV shows (reality shows, etc.) onto it and watch it wherever you go! You can sell your old iPod and use the money to buy movies for your new Nano.

Find it on Yahoo! Shopping: http://shopping.yahoo.com/b:Top%2010%20M...
Reply:ok im guessing u like stores like abercrombie and hollister so ask for a gift card or even ask ur aprents how mush they r willing to spend say they say $200 then ask them to get u one of those credit cards u can get at da store and fill it with that amount so u can just get things u want
Reply:what about a new bike! (seems like you have everything to entertain yourself inside and to make you look/smell pretty.) why not look for a gift that will get you outside? skates, skateboard, ice skates...or something that you can use outside--hiking boots, telescope, a kite? (ok, the kite idea is a little silly!)
Reply:my daughter loves jewlerry playboy watches and has all her room in play boy make up ;
Reply:You are spoilt. You're only 13 and you have all this stuff yet you're asking for more. It doesn't matter that you've gotten it over the years, you still have all this stuff. Some people in the world can't even afford to eat.

You might think this is patronising and starving people have nothing to do with your spoilt self...but I just think it's pathetic that little 13-year-olds are getting all this stuff and not even giving it another thought.

If you got a gift you didn't like, would you tell the gift-giver that you don't like it?

What would you do?

My mother in law usually tells me she doesn't like what I get for her, and sternly tells me it needs to be returned. Then she will pester me in the days following Xmas to see if I have returned her gift yet.

This has made me question whether I should get her anything at all this year, I take offense to this behavior. I was taught to always be gracious and say 'thanks'! FYI, these gifts are very expensive items from high end stores, I'm really trying to get her something she'd like, not just some crappy gift.

This year I decided to send mother and father in law a large gift basket full of goodies instead of trying to get them each a thoughtful gift. Am I being sensitive, or am I right to feel this is really rude of my mother in law?

If you got a gift you didn't like, would you tell the gift-giver that you don't like it?
when i get something i dont like, i just give it to someone else next year, no big deal. you could always give her a gift certificate, that way you cant be wrong. yeah, you have the right to feel the way you do, this goes beyond insensitivity, it just being mean and disrespectful. if it were me, i would give her a dog turd in a box, then tell her if she didnt like it, she could return it.
Reply:You are 100% right. How ungrateful and rude she is! I hope she raised her son different! I think your combined gift basket idea is a very good one. She sounds pretty much un-pleasable and you've got to beat her at her own game! I truly feel sorry for you. It is a joy to give gifts to loved ones at Christmas, and she is ruining that for you!

i like the idea of giving gifts from you AND your husband. That's what me and my husband do. You might want to try that just one Christmas and see how she reacts. See if she says something similar to your husband and see how he reacts to it!
Reply:Wow! If she were MY mother-in-law, she'd _be_ so lucky to get the goody basket you sent!
Reply:Get your mother-in-law an etiquitte book; she desperately needs one.

It is beyond belief a person could behave so ungraciously. She must have it in for you.

Your husband needs to run interference and discuss this with his mother-- it's his job to smoothe things over.

You may want to have him shop for his parents and sign the card with both of your names.

A gift basket will probably get the same reaction from her, but good on you for trying.

Merry Christmas!
Reply:give her a gift card to a store you know she shops at.

or...tell her you've been too busy to return it, but she's welcome to.

I have NEVER asked someone for even the receipt so I could return something. I settle for the exchange or store credit.

RUDE
Reply:Don't tell them you don't like it. Regift it.
Reply:I applaud your willingness to continue giving her gifts. Do you notice her, outside of the holidays, appearing less than grateful for things? If so, then I wouldn't take it personally. It may be that she's just very hard to please and no matter what anyone gives her she just won't be happy. In this case, she has a problem within herself.

If it appears the problem is mainly with your gifts then I would give a gift basket, like you said.
Reply:NO SHE IS RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! I would get her a gift card and stick the reciept in there. If she doesnt want it she can be sassy and see if she can get the cash. WOW!!!! Im sorry I have mother-in-law issues.

I would stick to gift cards. Or a basket like you said. Good luck dear! Mother in laws SUCK hahahaah.

**EDIT** Before i get my behind kicked for saying mother in laws suck lol. BAD mother in laws suck!!!!
Reply:You are totally in the right. Some people are really hard to shop for and when you finally find something you think they will like, then give it, its like a slap in the face if they are rude about it. Since she seems to not like your gifts, I would go ahead and give her generic gifts i.e. gift cards to departments stores or resturants that way she can get what she wants. Good luck this year!
Reply:Next time, let your HUSBAND get the gift. Then see how HE likes it when he gets the criticism from his mother. Leave it TOTALLY up to HIM, and if he doesn't get a gift, let THAT fall upon his shoulders, too! Your MIL sounds like an ingrate to me, and may never change.

Have a polite day.
Reply:On the basic question, no. I would simply accept it graciously, and like it or not, use it if it is in any way useful. Otherwise, I might consider regifting it, but not within the same circle (so original giver would never find out).

Most stores will give you a gift receipt you can give with the gift. Then the person can do their own returning if they want to, and the giver will never know. You could do that, and then your in-laws can spend the time.

I think the gift basket is a great idea. No one will refuse that. (I hope.) Another solution would be to ask your husband or father-in-law to sound out your m-i-l as to what she would really like.
Reply:She is being rude. If she doesn't like it, she can return it herself. You don't ask the "gift giver" to return the item. This woman has some nerve. I wouldn't get her anything.
Reply:Keep it

say thank you

saying or doing anything else is just really rude on your part.
Reply:Nope I say you are totally right to feel this way next time just give a gift card that what me %26amp; my husband do to our in-laws and it's great nobody complains and they can but their own d**m gift.My mother in-law did that for her husband and every year he would complain and now she's gone so I bet he really regrets that last Christmas since she died so close to Christmas.
Reply:The correct response from your mother in law would be to stay quiet and, if she found the gift genuinely distasteful, return it herself.

She could then subtly hint in future about what she may prefer.

However, your correct response, in this instance, is to batter her over the head with the offending item and then claim you cannot return it as it is now damaged.

I hope she will then see the folly of her ways.

WHAT do you get in your STOCKING at christmas?

usually for me, half of it is filled with candy and in the top part there are gift cards, lotions, lip gloss, small gifts like a necklace, etc. then next to the stockings might be a gift basket with gourmet hot chocolate or something like that. we always have to open our stockings before gifts.

how about you?

WHAT do you get in your STOCKING at christmas?
ya I always open my stocking first as well and it usually has chocolate and then makeup and stuff in it similar to yours

merry christmas =]
Reply:same we open them first.

they usually have panties :)

tic tacs, chocolate.

socks. makeup. cute little things.
Reply:Yeah, I have to look in stocking before gifts too. I don't know why, but last year, I got underwear and candy in my stocking. Very odd.

V-day gift for an engaged woman and he fiance (21 yrs old)?

I'm looking at making her a gift basket with stuff from Bath and Body Works. It's gonna be a fun kinda 'sexy' gift basket. I've already got a pair of fuzzy handcuffs to put in.

Can you browse their website and link me to some things you think would be fun?

ONLY stuff from Bath and Body Works please. and try to keep it under or around $50,

Thanks sooo much!

V-day gift for an engaged woman and he fiance (21 yrs old)?
they have an aromatherapy line and two of the things are "sensual" they are supposed to be infused with pheromones that put you in the mood (they work, trust me) there's one thats called black currant vanilla and another is jasmine vanilla... the candle works really well if lit about an hour before all the fun ; ) but they have lotion and all kinds of stuff...
Reply:no prob! i like the black currant vanilla one myself... hope she likes them : ) Report It
Reply:what's a v-day? is it what i think it is..?
Reply:Dumb question - I always assumed you buy a gift/card/whatever for your PARTNER only - it's not a generic gift giving day!
Reply:Gotta love the candles! Hope you have a great night!

Get well soon gift?

What would you like if something was being sent to you -

Flowers or a gift basket with candy and tea and stuff like that?

Flowers are always a safe bet.
Reply:How about a card with a gift certificate to her favorite lunch spot. Invite her to make a lunch date when she returns so that you guys can all catch her up on the office drama.
Reply:I agree with Maeve-a gift basket is a nice touch, can be filled with snacks and boredom killers for inpatient use and as a decoration for the home when the patient is discharged.

Gourmet English Tea Baskets for the Holidays?

My boss is english and I would like to find a very nice gourmet gift basket that contains authentic english teas and biscuits. I am not english so I'm not sure what to look for, but I would the basket to have authentic english/high teas %26amp; biscuits etc...something she could truly appreciate. If you are english and/or know about high teas would love to know your opinion on the matter and where to find a great basket. If you know of a URL that has what I am looking for please let me know. Again I am looking on the lines of something very nice.

i know a lot about teas, but not english teas. Mostly green and white and oolong tea. But I'd like to suggest an electric tea kettle if he doesn't have one. I'm getting one for Christmas and I'm very excited. see if he has one, and get one, especially if he likes to drink tea.

Reply:You can't go wrong with Earl Grey and English breakfast teas.

Earl grey has bergamot, or bergamot scent which is an uplifting oil. It is a nice refreshing tea that is popular.

English breakfast is probably a more filling type of tea.

My brother in law is English and he enjoys many types of teas, I have given him treat packs that include specialty herbal teas and organic teas and he enjoys different ones on different occasions.

So you may like to give her the two types of teas I mention at the top, and then something more exotic - like an organic herbal blend - even just a peppermint(if you are worried about getting too exotic).

Often those gift boxes have shortbread biscuits in them. But I have given my brother-in-law delicate specialty chocolates with his teas and he has seemed to enjoy that.

You could also go for some jams - those packs often have jams so they can have jam on toast or scones with their tea.

I would use a nice organic raspberry, strawberry or blackberry if you find them otherwise non-organic. But using organic products gives it a nice special effect.

You could also include a lovely cup and saucer or tea pot, or even a tea ball - this is a little ball that you can put tea leaves in and leave in a cup to set (instead of using a tea bag), handy for work or travel when a tea pot is less convenient.

Obviously it all depends on how much you want to spend and how many teas you are using, as to what other items you could add to your basket.

That is, of course, if you decide to make up your own basket for her.

A question for Nurses...gift?

I'm going to be checking into the hospital soon and I'd like to take a gift basket to the nurses. Last time I filled it with $3 items from Bath %26amp; Body Works, like moisturizer and hand sanitizer. I put a bunch of these small items in a basket in my room and asked each nurse/staff member who came in to take one. They seemed to really like it, and it helped me establish relationships with my caregivers.

Can you tell me what you'd like to see in a gift basket? The items have to be inexpensive, so I can get enough for everyone working different shifts. Also, I won't be able to eat at first, so I don't want to put food or candy in the basket. That would make me crazy!

Thanks for your help!

A question for Nurses...gift?
How wonderful you are! That means so much that you would want to show your appreciation to the nurses. I love that.

I'm sorry that you are going into the hospital. I hope you have a complication free recovery!

Well, bath and body stuff never hurts every time - lotion, hand sanitizer, hot chocolate mix, tea bags, lip balm, ink pens, stickers, gum/mints (if you can handle that), Inspirational cards - the little cards you find that have quotes, bible verses on them......you can get them at Christian book stores, book markers, etc.

Nurses do their job because they love what they do, but patients like you help us through the hard times. We usually get complaining patients that we can't make happy.

I think you are great.

All the best to you!
Reply:I wish you were my patient! lol. You know, other than candy/food the best present for nurses is to have a positive attitude. We encounter so much negativity, a patient who smiles and is nice to us is such a breath of fresh air. I could never recommend any other gift than that. Thank you for being so thoughtful.
Reply:key chains, scratch off tickets(they'll love them),lip balm is a good one I saw someone else suggest
Reply:some coloring books, candy, a small stuft animal (bears are cute) a get well soon card, and some flowers for sure!
Reply:First off, let me tell you that you rock!

Lip balms, tea bags, hand lotions, scratch lotto tickets (they are cheap here, not sure about where you live). Try to find a dollar store... you can find all kinds of goodies there for a dollar or less.

Good luck with everything.... you are a sweetpea!

Ok girls AND guys i need help on fathers day gift i have an idea?

Ok, heres my idea i plan to get a boxs of white fake rose pedals and in black permanent marker write love massages on them, make an invitation for my hubby that hes invited to a party just for the two of us and leave it in his lunch box that morning and when he gets home there will be instuctions on the door to follow the rose pedals and at the end will be a nude pic or a paper telling him what im going to do then the pedals will lead to the bathroom where every thing for his shower is waiting for him, then right on the outside of the door i will put a gift basket for him of things that will remind him of when we first go together while hes in the shower then another rose pedal trail that leads him back to the living room where i will be waiting with a sheet on the floor and two chairs in the middle of it one for him to sit in and the other as a prop to give him a strip tease. any suggestions to improve it and how to word the invatation.

Ok girls AND guys i need help on fathers day gift i have an idea?

Can anyone help with inexpensive advertising ideas?

I opened a baby gift basket and diaper cake business, but I don't have much money for advertisement and would like to find some inexpensive forms of advertising.

Can anyone help with inexpensive advertising ideas?

I put an example below...it's my website!
Reply:Write an article about your new business, and what you do. Submit it to your local paper and see if they will run it. Everybody also thinks if they see your business in the local paper then it must be a good place. Also offer word of mouth discounts. If one of your customers refers you to someone else, they both get 10% off their next order or something to that nature. Good luck.

How do you tell someone you don't like the gift they gave you?

We all know that yesterday was Valentine's Day. And after almost seven years of marriage, my husband gives me a gift basket! A gift basket! To me a gift basket is something you give your neighbor, your mother-in-law or even a co-worker. No real thought goes into a gift basket. Someone else carefully selected the items and placed them in a basket. Most of the items in there are things I don't even like. My feelings are hurt.

Now that I've had time to think about it, I know a lot of things I could have said to him, but didn't. Now it's to late to say these things. How to I bring up the subject the day after the gift was given to tell him how I feel?

How do you tell someone you don't like the gift they gave you?
You sound spoiled and unappreciative. You said it took no real thought, if he had no real thought he would have bought you 'nothing'! Maybe he should have given it to his co-worker, they would have probably appreciated it! If the worse thing you encounter in life is a 'gift disappointment' then I'd say life has been pretty darn good to you...try and appreciate it!!!
Reply:Well for one, be grateful you have someone to share the holiday's with.

For two....we have to know that men are totally different operating machines. Females look at it like this "I really lov ehim and care about him, so Im going to go through all the trouble to pick out something special for him. Ill give it a lot of thought and he will be so thrilled!!!"

Then a man thinks "Hey look, a gift basket! Now all the hard work is cutt out! I see a few things she likes in here, she recieves a gift on Valentine's day and it's got the color red."

So you have to give them a major head's up. I tell my husband a few things that I would like for this small holiday. I say "Fine chocolates, small gift card, small piece of jewelry." then I let him make the descion. It's ok to tell people what you want, b/c they you will wind up with something you dont want...like what happened with you.

I would say this "You know, first off I really want to tell you that I am so lucky your my husband. I love you and you are so sweet and thoughtful and caring and I just adore you. I am so grateful that you got me something on Valentine's Day! The fact that you remembered and thought of me was so sweet!

But, the gift you got me just doesnt fit me........ I mean I'll use it because you got it for me and that makes it special but it's my fault I didnt drop a few hints of what I like....so next time I will. Thank you! I love you!"

Good Luck!!!
Reply:I know how you feel. One year for Christmas, my husband and I also got a gift basket.. but from my parents. I felt insulted. I would just blow this off. Your husband meant well and probably just didn't know what to get you. What I would suggest though is to just give him hints of what you like and hopefully he'll get you one of those things. I know we shouldn't have to do stuff like that, but if it means that much to you to get something you like, then that's about all you can do. Casually ask him where he got the idea for your gift and see what he says.
Reply:Well I must say I am not married so the advice I give might not be very useful. [I am in a relationship though] Your husband is a guy you face your whole life. I am guessing that if you don’t tell him that you don’t like the gift and other things, you might burst it on him some day and he would have question marks all over his head.

My friend did tell me once [as I buy gifts for my boyfriend almost every month and his birthday and on occasions] that I might run out of gift for him one day. I am not siding your husband but maybe he did run out of ideas what to give you and when he walk in the mall as he was walking pass a shop it say gift basket for valentine!!! And he was blinded by the fancy wrapping and all the advertising that out of a burst of anxiousness to grab his wife something he got the gift basket.

How about you darling did you get your husband something? Did he like it? Well you can sit down with him and ask him, if he like he gift you gave him or is it useful to him.

Look through the gift basket and see if there is anything you like [I know you don’t like most of the things in it.] pick up those that you like or is useful as household items [food or drinks] leave the rest a side. Then tell him you like this particular item that is in the gift basket. Tell him how useful the others are [household items] [thank him never the less gibe him credit for making to trip to get you the gift =D] and tell him but you don’t know what to do with the others [things you don’t like] make him think the next time when he buys you a gift.

Then maybe when your out with him next time shopping drop some hints to him [things that are affordable for him to buy and you need it or you really want it] well I will say this to my boyfriend “O how nice it [the thing that you want] would be for a Valentine's Day gift, it would be perfect!” Or "Look dear isn't this lovely [then touch the thing abit to show that you like the thing]" =D but don’t say it too many times you might irritate him.

I hope it helps =D
Reply:Sometimes guys really do not remember silly holidays like Valentine's thats why those gift baskets they sell during Valentines, Mother's day, etc. are so lucrative. Since most men are too busy being in their own world to remember these days.

Tell him how you feel but don't make him feel bad. Reassure him that he shouldn't feel bad.

I really think that it is just not fair for us to expect husbands and boyfriends to do things for us on Valentine's day. It's a made up holiday. It's not like Valentine's day is to celebrate the women in the relationship. It suppose to celebrate the couple in the relationship. I do hope you got him a gift or else there is no reason to have your feelings to be hurt.
Reply:Why not think about the gifts he gives you the other 364 days and TRUST me I am not talking about materialistic gifts. I have been reading so many responses from women that we're unhappy with the gifts their mates gave them on this one damn dumb day and I think you are alll ridiculous. Does your man not show you love the other 364 days? Does he not respect you and honor his vows? If so....put on your big girl panties and get a REAL issue. My man insisted on getting me candy and all I wanted was 2 puzzle books because V'day is bull. I have a wonderful man who shows me love everyday and I refuse to mess with that because societies bullsh*t date says I should receive something wonderful on Feb 14 .
Reply:I don't think you should criticize anyone's GIFT. Let's face it, a GIFT is something freely given, that you know you have no right to expect, that you didn't pay for. And what did you give your husband that was so much better, anyway? He probably gave you the gift basket because it was showy and because his mind went blank and he didn't know what else to do. And now it's too late, anyway. I suggest that next time a gift-giving is about to come up (say, your birthday) you talk to him and say, "if you are thinking of getting me anything, here are some ideas of what I'd like". And you could help things further by being sure, when his birthday is coming up, to ask him what HE'D like. If you criticize his gift now, it's like you're saying, "you don't love me enough", or "you have to love me in a certain way". It would be better if you found a way to suggest to him that next time, he try to find out what would please you first.
Reply:From now on do not hint, ask or tell him nicely. I hate that women constantly "hint" at what they want, then expect guys to get it. Remember one additional thing when you do ask for what you want, it is not what you say it is how you say it.

By the way, I dropped hints at my significant other and found she did not get it either, then later I made it a point to tell her so. Works both ways!
Reply:Your feelings are hurt because you don't like A GIFT.

Go look in the dictionary under GIFT.

A GIFT is given for good will.

One is not obligated to GIVE a GIFT.

To consider that a GIFT is somehow not good enough is perhaps the most selfish and self centered attitude a person can adopt.

Is this guy supposed to be tapped into your subconscious definition of what a GIFT is supposed to be and not be.

Frankly, if a person told me that they did not like my GIFT.

I would take it back, return it if I could or give it to someone else and it would be the LAST GIFT they saw from me for a very long time.

Imagine the women who did not get so much as a "happy Valentine's Day" from their mate.

This is disgusting. Count your blessings and learn to appreciate that he got you something. As it is you appear like a selfish brat.

Grow UP.
Reply:It's the thought that counts. How about stopping the gift giving on Valentines' Day?

My husband always buys me great gifts, but I think Valentines' Day is nothing more then an overbloated Hallmark holiday. I told him let's just exchange cards and he cooked me dinner - it was awesome! Tonight I am cooking him dinner. I think it's the way to go.
Reply:I wouldn't say anything. It will only hurt his feelings. Guys are just dumb sometimes.
Reply:Sweetie, a gift basket is okay, trust me.
Reply:BE THANKFUL HE REMEMBERED MOST GUYS DO NOT REMEMBER IN TIME
Reply:If you want to continue receiving gifts, then you don't. All your criticism (no matter how nicely put) will do, is discourage him and make him not want to get you anything. Just remember his heart was in the right place and he was thinking of you---some women don't get anything from their husbands.

Also remember what his fall back gift is and in the future start leaving obvious hints or just out right tell him what you would like. Give him several options to choose from so that you are still surprised.
Reply:Tell him TODAY. Only one day has passed. Tell him What you said Above. He may have just been "desperate" that he wasn't "Better Prepared" and didn't want to come home Empty Handed. Talk to him today. tell him how you feel. Good Luck !!
Reply:Just thank him and act nice, you are very lucky a few of my friends don't even get their wives/girlfriends gifts as they don't believe in valentines day they think its just the shops trying to make money
Reply:You shouldn't say anything, be gracious and thankful that he took the time to go out and buy you a gift basket.
Reply:you are lucky he tried and if you tell him then you will only hurt his feelings. i didn't even get anything. so just be glad he thought about you. not only that this is what you do. go out and buy yourself something that you would like.

best will get the 10 pts. thanks.

College survival gift...?
Oh yes, First use a laundry basket for the basket. Add flip flops for shower shoes. A plastic basket with handle for her to put her bathroom supplies into to take them to the showers. Laundry soap. A roll of quarters. Sheets/new comforter set for her bed in the dorm. (Usually a twin) Toiletries items that she uses. High-liters,pencil,pens,paper,folders SCHOOL SUPPLIES!

I hoped this helped.

Good Luck and Bless U both!
Reply:I've had the opportunity to do this twice. Once I just got a book bag. A nice one, back packy kindof thing with wheels.

The other time, things were really tight, but I wanted to do something 'survival' in nature, so, I went to a dollar tree... got a clothes basket, laundry detergent, bleach, dryer sheets, and i forget what all. topped it off with a gift card to a nationwide drugstore chain. (Aspirin, hair color, some food available at any store she went to)

I think you can give them oil painting from their photo means turn their photo in oil painting it will create nice impression on them.

Capture that special moment.turn it into a masterpiece that will last forever!

i suggest u to look at this site i think it will help u,

A great idea for a personal and unique gift is a handmade painting made from a photo that you send.

Check out this site: http://www.portrait2000.com

They have many samples here http://www.portrait2000.com/samples.htm

The prices are reasonable and the outcome is amazing.
Reply:Let's see...some sort of energy drink. I'm allergic to caffeine, but I know most colleges run on that stuff. There's a gum out now that has caffeine in it too- if you can find that get it. Get a cheap day planner type of thing. Don't spend too much on it because it's mostly a gag gift- hardly anyone uses them. Sticky notes save lives. Highlighters are good. Ramen noodles and canned soup. Spoons and forks. Laundry detergent and/or dish soap.

Valentine's Day Gift HELP?

Okay, ladies, I need help! Does this sound like a good V-day gift?

First, we start out the night by going out to a nice, romantic dinner. Then, we go back to my place. I have candles lit, rose petals leading to my bedroom. On the same path as the rose petals lie are little notes that say things such as "you're the love of my life," etc, etc. Now, I will have a CD ready and turn it on with a remote. I will have more rose petals on my bed. Along with the rose petals, will be a gift basket in the center of the bed with some Victoria Secret panties, massage lotions, and her favorite music. Also, there will be a little personalized teddy bear. I'll light some scented candles in the room, and we can make love. Is that an okay present? I plan to make her a card as opposed to buying one. In the morning, I will also put a note on her car before she goes to work. How does all this sound? Should I add more? I am on a limited income.

Gift for more then a friend?

There is a girl, she and I have been wonderful friends for years, and I've always wished she was something more. Now we finally are.. sort of. We don't know what to call it yet, and she is on the other side of the country. We aren't exactly dating... but we aren't exactly not either. I've been wanting to send her a gift for a while.. I've been known to randomly ship off a box of cookies just to say "thinking of you" to my friends... but now I want to send her something special. At first I was going to send her a web cam because she wanted one anyways and then I could see her, but she doesn't want me to buy it for her (she can accept gifts, but not people buying her things she needs... I love that about her)

I'm tempted to send a box of chocolate covered strawberries... we were just talking about how we both love them. I wanted some sort of flower/fruit gift basket maybe that can have them and pomegranate, maybe even plums (all things we've talked about, she'd know it wasn't just some stock gift basket and it was made just for her. I also don't want to come on too strong... but this is things I would have sent her as just a friend, aswell. What would be a good gift, and do you know anywhere specific to order from? She lives in Las Vegas if that helps any.

Gift for more then a friend?
depends what you want to say. i would just be plain old fashioned and say it with roses.
Reply:Well, they say a picture is worth a million words! So, if you know some of her hobbies or passions you could surprise her with a nice little portrait made from a photo depicting exactly what or whom she likes. This can be done at http://www.paintyourlife.com for a reasonable fee and according to your specifications!

The same company also has a studio for oil paintings reproductions. If you are looking for an affordable gift urgently, you can take a look at their 'stock on sale'. Visit http://www.oil-paintings-reproductions.c...
Reply:Depending on what you can spend, I'd probably go buy some pralines, (sorry, Texas boy here,) in the stuff they use to line easter baskets, put a phone card on top of the pralines, and sandwich the card in place by placing a small stuffed animal on the phone card and using that pink wrap to sort of hold everything together before you pack it for shipping.

Best of luck,

D
Reply:Ya' want to do something really different . Buy her a dream catcher and send it to her .... it can catch all of her bad dreams at night and she will only have good dreams ...
Reply:I think flowers, chocolates and cards are cliched.

I was in a similar situation, and I wanted to do something different. so I sent my friend an entire book with photos of the two of us and places we had been to. She was really touched :)

check it out.. I think it would be perfect.

What are some great small shower gift ideas?

I'm filling a basket with things that I have discovered to be 'the best' since having my daughter 5 months ago. So far I'm putting in:

Avent pacifiers (daughter likes the shape best)

Dollarama bibs and sunglasses($1 each and they are just as good as the more expensive kinds!)

Secrets of the Baby Whisperer book (saved me when we were having sleep problems)

Jolly Jumper crib wedge

Jolly Jumper car seat strap covers

Can anyone suggest anything else?

What are some great small shower gift ideas?
Lansinoh

breast pads

Baby Safe feeder (or other mesh bag style feeder)

Hyland's Teething Tablets

Old Navy baby socks (they stay on feet the best!)

baby sling
Reply:I always add in baby shampoo, soap, wipes, and a bottle brush. All those little things you use everyday and seem to always run out of. Pack in a couple of teething rings and little hand toys as cute stuffers.
Reply:Johnson's Baby Lotion and Baby Wash
Reply:Burp Rags, No one bought me burp rags. And the best present I got was a laundry basket with baby shampoo, wash, rags, towels, oil, diaper rash cream, baby tylenol, gas medicine drops.
Reply:What about diaper stuff--wipes, diaper rash cream, powder, changing pads. Burp clothes, infant tylenol, mylicon drops, pacifier clips, nail clippers and accessories, rattles, and small toys, socks, bottle/nipple brush, plush books.

Thats about all I can think of at the moment. These are all the things I used when my child was little and to me some are MUST HAVES

Great Gift idea. Wish I had you at my baby shower.
Reply:nail clippers

nasal aspirator

thermometer

wash cloths

burp cloths

teether toys
Reply:Diaper rash ointment, baby powder, receiving blankets, and coupon's for free baby sitting... New mom and dad will need time out!
Reply:Put in some baby washclothes and baby bath products from Johnson n Johnson or Aveeno.
Reply:Onesies, wipes, Destin, baby shampoo, baby soap and baby powder, socks, mittens, nail clippers, baby comb and brush, and dont forget to throw something for the parents in there even if it just a box of chocolates!
Reply:A Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder - it's a little ring/holder with a net on the top to put in fresh food that normally your baby can't have. The net keeps the actual food from getting in the their mouths, but they can suck out all the juices.

This has been a lifesaver for me, b/c I can always give my daughter something different and it keeps her occupied! AND the BEST part was when she's teething really bad and nothing else worked, I would put ice chips in this and she was good for a long while!!!!!

They used to sell these at Target. That's where I got mine.

and Cloth Diapers, they come in handy when baby's bottom needs some air and you need to lay baby on something absorbant. People forget about cloth diapers, I think every mom should own at least a few.
Reply:mirror that's safe to put in the crib.

photo album with portrait gift certificates tucked inside
Reply:Any small toys like real soft stuffed animals and rattles......baby wipes.....lotions for baby and mom.......little tshirts or onesies......a candle or two and maybe a box of relaxing teas for the new mom......sometimes all the attention is on the baby and mom is left out.........I know I really enjoyed it when I was acknowledged just as my baby was........A baby shower is wonderful and fun...but don't forget how you felt.

Have a great time..hope some of this may help.
Reply:The Johnsons calming bath and baby wash. Helps them sleep sooo much better. My son loves the Avent pacifiers too, lol. Also, one of the little baby care kits, everyone forgets about, with the nail clippers, thermometer and such. And Pampers has a thing where you can order gift cards for diapers and it comes in a cute package. Some of the Playtex bottles, they have a gift set as well. A cute little baby brush and comb set. Washclothes, maybe a little bathrobe.
Reply:ok. so this isn't really a baby gift - it's a gift for the mom. i would put in a container of the Clorox cleaning wipes. They are the best for quickly disinfecting car surfaces, toys, bathroom and kitchen. they're bleach free and come in three or four different smells. i like the "lavenda" because it's a nice non-chemically smell and i think it's funny they spell it without the "r". i also use them for wiping down the crib and the changing table.
Reply:just hit up your local dollar store and load it up from there. i usually go there then make a diaper cake everyone loves them and they are from the heart and cheap to make.
Reply:Oh my goodess! I have been to more baby showers than I can count! Love it. love it! Baby blanket, DIAPERS are always good to give, get a diaper bag and fill it up with goodies, such as rattles, bottles, wipes, diapers, ittybitty nail clippers, bib, sunscreen, I got my sister a crib camera, she loved it! Babys R Us. I got my friend a bouncy seat that vibrates and plays music and it even had a mosquit net I think it was like $30. Baby clothes shoes socks....Need any more ideas e-mail me!!!
Reply:You can put in small little baby shoes, fill a small bottle with chocolate candy, and put a small colorful picture frame in there (you can easily get these at the Target dollar zone) because everyone loves to take lots of pictures of their little ones.
Reply:Robeez shoes.

Help, I need a gift idea!?

For a female coworker, age is between 40-50. I'd like to get something under $25. She got me 2 cofee mugs with 4 flavored hot chocolate packages. I was thinking about doing a gift basket but it seems like you can only buy them online (Which I don't want to do).

Help, I need a gift idea!?
you can buy them at walmart. or buy some crap and a basket and make your own
Reply:get her some candy, or a basket of soaps and stuff. you can get them anywhere.
Reply:CHOCOLATE!

...you could make a gift basket...I did for a co-worker and under $25. Go to your nearest Gormet foods store like a (TraderJoes) and grab some yummies you think she might like....can't go wrong with Chocolate....EVER!
Reply:Forrest Gump on DVD.
Reply:I say you get her 2 vibrators and a dildo. Put them nicely in a basket, with colorful plastic and give it to her as a gift. It's the only thing that can compare to 2 mugs and 4 hot chocolate packets....then again....maybe you should give her the mugs and packets back too, and tell her to stick them in the same place as the other gifts within the basket....What kind of crappy gift is 2 mugs and hot chocolate anyway.
Reply:Theres this really cute recipe for snowman soup its really cute you schould look it up...good luck
Reply:Making your own basket is a great idea. You could even make a relaxation kit or something to that effect. Get bath salts, relaxation cd, soothing candles, eye mask, etc. and put them all in a basket. Best wishes.
Reply:I would suggest going to the Hallmark store and finding something there. They have gifts for a decent price that most people don't see. If you want to do a gift basket you could go to a dollar store and get some bubble baths and shower gels and bath salts and candles then make your own basket and wrap in colored saran wrap and finish it off with a bow.
Reply:get her a gift basket from Wal-Mart,they have them on aisle #9
Reply:Buy her a 30 rack

Reply:Go to Walmart near the candles and home decor... They have little fountains there... probably like 8 in tall and 6 inches across... they look asian inspired, and they are around 15 dollars..... You jsut put water in them and plug them in.. they work good in the bathroom, or dining room.....
Reply:Depending on how old she is...you could still just make her a gift basket. Go to Walmart or Target and buy a cheap basket. Target has an area called "See Spot Save" and you could find a Christmas bucket or basket for a dollar, then fill it will odds and ends...you can get a couple travel things like lotion, hand sanitizer, chapstick, bath stuff, buy some candy like individually wrapped M%26amp;Ms and such, maybe a couple cheap candles, a nice little notepad, a couple pens, maybe a couple packs of hot cider, hot chocolate, and tea...then you can either leave it open or put colored celophane (like the easter basket wrap) over it and a nice christmas bow. You could DEFINITELY keep it under $20, or right around that.
Reply:Why don't you just buy a Christmas tin and fill it with homebaked cookies (from a mix or roll, no one will know)! Also, if you have a Sam's Club, they have Godiva chocolate gift sets but I'm not sure of the price. The only thing about using a lotion/bath gift set from Walmart is that some people don't like how strong the scents are...I was given a set and I returned it because I found it slightly nauseating! Another cute idea is to buy a basket/tin/etc and fill it with unflavored microwave popcorn and some different popcorn flavored salts and include a 5 or 10 dollar gift certificate to your local movie rental establishment (like Blockbuster). Then they have everything they need for a movie night!
Reply:How about a fruit basket - you can get those at any grocery store. Or how about a nice bag/box of pecans. Or you can put together your own gift basket. You can get a pretty red or gold charger, then stack items like a box of holiday candies, nuts, or goodies on it. Then sprinkle red or green confetti strips all around it. Then, cut a large piece of clear cellophane and place the charger on top of it. Pull the cellophane up around the charger and items and close it by tying a pretty bow.

Any creative suggestions for Christmas present ideas to give to our dog's and cat's Veterinarians?
It all depends on what you are looking for but on our website we sell our dog breed and cat cookie cutters, they are very popular and are our biggest sellers this time of year. We handmake all cookie cutters and are currently making over 150 different dog breeds. All the cutters are individually packaged and shipped from us and have a lifetime unconditional warranty.
Reply:Silk plants for their office. They come in all kinds of varieties and last forever. That's what we did last year for all of our doctors and it was a great hit with all of them.

I usually buy them through Overstock.com :

Happy Holidays !!
Reply:Unless you know them well, you are just guessing on the gift basket. For someone you don't socialize with, and only see occasionally, you can't go wrong with a nice dinner out, or a gift card to a nice store. they probably already have every dog and cat thing on earth.
Reply:a donation so they can help dogs, cats etc; many vets will assist strays etc; any donation is a present; I am sure that they would appreciate that more than a gift basket.
Reply:Some vet medical kit, which they so often require for treatment of our pets. A vet's life (taken seriously) is quite tough.
Reply:I would go with a gift card,a basket would be very hard.but female, lotion hand soap.a lufa type thing, some scrunchies.a recipet book.and some other gulry stuff

What are you doing of a wedding card holder for the gift table? Anything creative?

I thought about a basket but I think it's a little dull......

I don't feel like looking for a bird cage.

The cater is a rip off for renting them.

I refuse to pay $50 for something that is used once no craft store premade stuff.

I tried borrowing one and was actually given something but it turned out to be a rusty old mail box covered in satin with stuff hot glued to it- YUCK.

I could make a satin box but I want to see what other people were doing first.

If you can think of something that is reuseable that would be wonderful!!!

What are you doing of a wedding card holder for the gift table? Anything creative?
Forget the basket, birdcage or anything that looks pretty. Pick function. A big box with a tiny slit in the top that is wrapped in some kind of pretty wrapping paper is best. At my own wedding and every wedding I have ever been a part of, at least 10 or more cards were stolen or became "missing." People are dishonest and not only do employees of the reception hall steal but guests do as well. They know those cards have money in them. Make sure the box is secure and that once the card goes in that it isn't coming out until you take it out later.
Reply:The satin box sounds lovely. I know you don't want craft store stuff but one of my bridesmaids made this three-tiered cardboard cake with a hole on top to put the cards in. She covered the box with beautiful creme paper, lace and in faux pearl strands along the edges. It was amazingly beautiful. Perhaps you could make a satin cake box and decorate it as you like...

I also had a large vase filled with rose petals. The outside had a ribbon tied around it -- this was my "wedding wishes" jar that maybe you could use as a wedding card holder instead.
Reply:I used a cardboard box and giftwrapped it. cut a hole on the top of the box to slip the cards into. Wrapped a bow on top turned out really well. You don't need something extravagant. After all, it's going to be in the corner or side of your reception and all people do is walk over and place it in there, they don't sit and oogle that table.
Reply:At my cousins wedding this past june they actually had a mail box, it was on the mail box stand that you would see sitting outside someones home, and will sit outside their home when they buy one, I thought that was so clever. The box they chose was beaituful (not a plain black box) it was hand painted with birds and flowers, it sat right next to the gift table and we all put our cards right in as if it were mail.
Reply:What are your colors? Do you have a theme?

Edit- Those were my colors too! I think simple is always better, so how about a simple, low, LARGE display bowl for the cards?

Something like this, only bigger:

http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.asp...

And if you could find a wood one it would look very nice.
Reply:-A large tall glass vase

- A mailbox. You can personalize it and use it later in your home! No money wasted, different and useful.

Good luck
Reply:For my daughter's wedding I bought a wooden treasure chest at Value City which I think was around $10.00. We had a friend paint it (he's a professional artist) with a Precious Moments bride and groom on top and their names across the front. My husband put a very small block of wood in the one corner, just enough to hold it open to put the cards into. After the wedding, the block of wood was removed so they could remove the cards. This is something she can keep and has momentos from her wedding and bridal shower stored in. Make sure that no one can gain access to the cards at the reception. A friend of ours had all of their cards stolen at their reception from a box that had a large opening at the top.
Reply:Well next summer I'm doing the bird cage, the caterer wanted $50 to rent it and theirs looked well used and falling apart, so I went on Ebay and bought one.

My brother's wedding last year he had the same colors as you. (too bad he didn't save his, I'd have him send it to you!) He (well Mom did it!) covered a box with the chocolate satin and put a big pink bow around it (Like a wrapped present)

The basket is a nice idea but frankly I thought the point of putting them in something was so nobody could take them back out...

Can't really think of anything reusable that would be large enough...
Reply:I don't think the basket is a dull idea...actually i saw one with the same flowers on it as the table (the florist helped with that) and it was beatiful.

I used a stain box that was my sister-in-laws, can you borrow anyones?
Reply:I had a wrapping paper type thing made with some of our pictures and we jsut wraped a box with some pictures it looked awesome
Reply:my sister got this wishing well from oriental tradding and dolled it up with some ribbons and flowers with the wedding colors it looked nice and affordable trust me people are not going to be talking about it i n 3 years from now on oh they had this as the card holder

What should i put in her gift basket?

ok i want stuff that isnt romantic cuz shed hate me

What should i put in her gift basket?
a book, magazine, a journal, chocolates, candles, a gift card, lotion, a puzzle book... Think of her interests and go from there.
Reply:Well, whatever you may decide to get in the end, think of including a handmade portrait or painting of something she may like, etc. Just have the photos or pictures sent to the professional artists at http://www.paintyourlife.com and they will work wonders out of them. You will like it, and so will your friend too, I bet. The service is fast and fairly priced.

They also have a studio for oil paintings reproductions. If you are looking for an affordable gift urgently, you can take a look at their 'stock on sale' at http://www.oil-paintings-reproductions.c...
Reply:Candy, gift certifificates in $5 amounts or gift cards (coffee shop, restaurant, hair salon), how about a movie pass, car wash pass, money, jewelry, flowers, etc ... :)
Reply:Cookies, chocolates, gift certificates to her favourtite stores, i don't know, i would say like bath stuff, and lotion, and candles, but you do not want anything romantic, but they don't have to be romantic unless you imply it.
Reply:well i don't exactly know why we're making "her" a gift basket, but assuming this is for someone you're seeing romantically I would suggest maybe some perfume, some of her favorite dvds, maybe some candy. More information would help...
Reply:you could put perfume? or a necklace or a braclet? or money? or a stuffed animal? or a picture of you two? or a pet( like buy her a pet )? just some suggestions!!

Gift basket business??

Has anybody made good money doing this? If so how much did you make and how.

Gift basket business??
You can make good money doing this but you do have to market to any place that has high visibility. Give some of them to teachers, doctors, any friends that work in a place where they deal with a lot of public. You will see the orders will start coming in.
Reply:I work at a UPS Store and one of our best customers is a lady who runs a gift basket business. She gets _so many_ orders--especially during holiday season! This Christmas, she must have brought in around 20-30 baskets. She does fancy foods, so the baskets are relatively expensive.

You could also do a "basket of the month" type deal; there's always demand for that.

My advice: scope out the area before jumping into anything new. See if your neighbors can afford it.
Reply:well not my buissness but the deal is i am currently an assistant for a mortgage loan officer...she usually send a wine basket to her realtors when she closes a loan and the borrower were *ss's....and a fruit basket to her borrowers when they were great customers......so i am incharge of ordering and making the whole delivery transaction run smoothly......but i had a fit with my basket maker and i had to cut her of my bosse's business. So i had her 1st assistant make basket localy for me. She charges my boss 20.oo for a medium wine or fruit basket and she delivers too.

the other lady i hired makes me medium baskets for 45.00 plus tax she delivers for 5.00 extra thats either one..

I can tell you its a great hobby and its great extra income my boss closes 10-15 loans a month and each one is to 1-2 baskets.so you can make the math. if you are barely starting i suggest using realtors and mortgages that do these things i tell you because in this buissness you need to kiss butt and a basket is the perfect way to do it to get business and refferals.

A Valentine's day Gift for my Girlfriend?

My wife gave me a gift basket this morning, it had cologne, aftershave, body wash and DEODORANT. What am I?

supposed to think of this? TWO sticks of deodorant!

Who gives someone DEODORANT for Valentine's Day?

I didn't say anything besides Thank You, and she didn't smile or anything.

My wife gave me a gift basket this morning, it had cologne, aftershave, body wash and DEODORANT. What am I?
That's sweet! I'm sure she put allot of thought in that and she is just trying to show you that she's thinking of you and cares about you. Besides we all know how difficult it can be to buy any type of gift for a guy especially on a mushy day like Valentines.

Buy her something special and take her out somewhere special, show her that you appreciate all that she is to you.

Take Care
Reply:It seems like she wants you to think about how much you smell.
Reply:hahahaha
Reply:Glad you are taking it in as a HUGE HINT! You obvious have body smells. Big Time B.O.!!!! Use the products! Or ask for an exchange for unscented if you have allergies. Like most of us have!
Reply:Maybe it was what the gift basket was comprised of, no alterior motives just happened to have it.
Reply:I know you probably hated this gift....Women usually give people they love gifts that they personally would like. She probably likes getting a gift basket, filled with spa stuff, or things to pamper oneself with. She thought you might like it, too. Some people think that if they like something, their partner will like it, too. I know in your case your probably don't like it. I used to give gifts like your wife did, but, I learned from experience and give my Val better gifts he likes.
Reply:She wants you to smell good..use it and shut up.
Reply:At least she gave you something besides a hard time! Be thankful. She thought of you on Valentine's day. This sounds innocent enough unless you have a guilty conscience.
Reply:lol funny. maybe its a hint you need to wash more?
Reply:It's just a gift. Don't read into it.
Reply:It's hard to shop for men on Valentine's. I still have to get my husband something.
Reply:soooo

what did you give her??

or you didn't

soooo

what will you give her??
Reply:PLEASE take a hint and don't make a big deal about it. It will make your wife happy and result in a stronger marriage.
Reply:maybe she's trying to throw you off and suprise you tonite! *wink wink*

Sympathy gift help...?

The woman that I used to babysit for about 13 years ago called to let me know that her mother-in-law passed away. The kids I used to babysit are pretty much grown up now and I haven't seen them in ages. I still am in occasional contact with their mother (the one that called). I don't know the proper etiquette for handling this situation.

Ideally, I'd like to just send a gift basket to their house but they are expensive and we are on a tight budget. The fact that she called made me feel obligated for something. Is sending JUST a condolence card too tacky? I am unable to attend the wake so I cannot just ignore the situation.

PLEASE ADVISE!

Sympathy gift help...?
a condolence card will do just fine....with a note from you expressing your heartfelt condolence.....you don't have to do more then that......one of my brothers just passed away.....we got cards from people he used to know from back in the day when he was in high school and college.....it was a nice of them to do that and that they remembered him
Reply:A hand-written letter would be most appreciated
Reply:You can just send a card since you aren't close to them. Or you could make a small donation to charity in the name of the deceased. Don't feel guilty about not doing more.
Reply:There is no reason to send a gift basket of any type - a condolence card, with a personal message written inside, is all that is required, and is not tacky at all.
Reply:GG. A sympathy card is just fine. When someone is grieving, some sincere empathy is all they need, if anything. Gifts mean NOTHING. Don't worry about it.
Reply:no sending a condolence card is a great idea and remember it is her mother in law so address it to the family.

you can personalize it by inserting a sealed personalized note telling her how sad you are for her and her family. make a thoughtful gesture by including an angel card or small pocket sized photo frame that she can insert and keep a photo in, something that would fit in a purse or handbag.
Reply:I'm sure the phone call to you was more in the nature of letting long-time family friends know of the sad news than it was intended to solicit sympathy gifts. Such gifts are not in the regular realm of reactions to the death of a family friend. A sympathy card expressing your sadness at the loss of an old friend is sufficient.

I need the perfect Good Luck (Merde) gift for my boyfriend!?

In december, when I had just started seeing him, my boyfriend performed in The Nutcracker. I sent him a Nutcracker gift basket to wish him luck, or as dancers say, Merde.

Next, his ballet company is performing Sleeping Beauty, and I need ideas on something cute to get him. Any inspirations, or ideas about where I can go to get him something?

I need the perfect Good Luck (Merde) gift for my boyfriend!?
Lucky girl, ballet guys are hot!

Knit him warm-ups, that would be an awesome thing to do.

Nureyev was never seen without his on until right before he went on.

Sew the word Merde into his shoes, in red, since the Chinese believe it's good luck.

Make him a good luck dinner FULL of carbs and protein the night before opening. Energy and love from you! That should stay with him alright!

Gift suggestions for a friend who is traveling to Ireland?

My best friend is leaving for a school-related trip to Ireland next week and I would like to put together a travel-themed birthday basket. Any books or guides about Ireland would be irrelevant because they will not get to do much sight-seeing and what they do will has already been set-up by the school. Any handy travel miscellaneous items too would also be great. Suggestions?

Gift suggestions for a friend who is traveling to Ireland?
How about getting them some various magazines, books, etc... to read while on the plane! Also you could add some things to the basket like gum, a new CD, DVD (if they're taking a portable DVD player), eye covers to sleep on the plane, etc...

how about a dinner for two at a local quality restaurant?

A complete Turkey or Ham dinner certificate from the supermarket?
Reply:What about gift certificates? Those always work. Or a GREAT BIG HUGE CHRISTMAS PARTY WITH LOBSTER AND ALL THE EXTRAS :)
Reply:Ask them what they would like. It's always more enjoyable to get a gift you can use, especially since an employer is showing appreciation for a year's worth of hard work. Put a list out of different options and have your employee's sign up for the option they would like, like gift cards to several different places; Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Victoria's Secret, etc. You could also give them the option of pooling the money and throwing a big Christmas Party just for them. Godd luck! I hope you find the answer to your Christmas dilema.

Reply:As an employee, I would rather have cash than gift cards and stockings filled with things I don't use.
Reply:I would like to suggest a gift certificate to a restaurant. That is what a lot of people like. It's nice to have a night out to eat.
Reply:ooooooo. per person huh???? Well, you could always buy them one of those VISA gift cards, good where ever they accept visa. IT lets them choose what they want, unlike others that make you use the gift card on the particular store only. Or you could buy chocolate.
Reply:Give them a box of chocolates and a gift card inside......
Reply:A nice salary increase. They remember you the rest of the year
Reply:Raises not roses. Next best, gift cards for pricey restaurants or upscale/fancy grocery stores.. No MacBurgers. Skip the stocking with trinkets, we have enough of those. I hope the company appreciates your interest. Good luck.
Reply:Cold Hard Cash. This way they can treat themselves to something they really want or use it to cushion the holiday expenses.
Reply:I would rather have the money. It sounds bad but hey Christmas is expensive. If that isn't possible a box of hot chocolate with a walmart giftcard is nice.
Reply:Gift cards for food, I like your movie idea too. Maybe coffee and tea gift baskets, candels and incence. Hope this helped.
Reply:The best thing I ever got from an employer was an extra vacation day to be used one day next year, I loved that.
Reply:Gift certificates to restaurants, or a store like borders or best buy.
Reply:I say give them the cash. Let them get what they want to. I know that not many guys want gifts from Bath and Body Works. But if it has to be a gift gift, then why not a basket with cheese, crackers, wine and wine glasses? Or skip the cheese and crackers and add a cork screw and bottle stopper. Or an ice cream themed basket? Sprinkles, hot fudge, caramel topping, ice cream scoop, those funny looking banana shaped bowls.
Reply:I gave these to all my office coleagues last year and they were a huge hit. So good in fact, they called me thoughout the year asking me to get more or where they could get them.

These are very stylish and cute and in expensive. Most of them use them around their office/cubicle and on their refrigerators at home.

I always gift these as stocking stuffers or to my neighbors and they absolutley love them.
