What are some gifts for someone who is pregnant???

I have between 5-8 people to buy gifts for that are pregnant right now. The reason it is between 5 and 8 is....if I cant afford to do 8 I will only do 5 for now. I was wating to get some gift baskets together but I need some ideas on what to put in them without spending way too much. I was thinking maybe some birth control pills or something, just kidding. I dont know what to put in them. I was trying to figure out a way to make a basket out of diapers that they could use but I cant figure anything out. Are there any websites or anything with ideas? What are some meaningful things I could put in cute little baskets that wont cost me an arm and a leg???? Thanks in advance.

generally things that they could use such as bottles, bibs and even little jumpsuits which are quite inexpensive ( you know the ones that spit up comes off easy off). the little things us pregnant women don't think of so they are always good. maybe even nail clippers. i had a thought the other day that we don't have a first aid kit. this could be helpful in the coming years. just go to your local department store and look down the aisle what has all the bottles and pacifiers and things like that you get some good ideas there.
Reply:A basket for the mommy is really a great idea. Baby always ends up with everything they need! A favorite candy bar, hand lotion, nail polish, a small gift certificate towards a foot massage, or some things that mom to be craves.

A favorite basket I often put together is a gift card (just enough for a movie rental or two) to a local video store, a couple of bags of microwave popcorn, a box or two of candy (movie theater style- think Junior Mints), and a couple of sodas or iced teas. This makes a nice date night in for mom to be and her husband/boyfriend!

Hope this helps!
Reply:I got tons of duplicate gifts when I had my daughter, and I can barely remember who gave me what...with the exception of chocolates and body wash with a nice note about mom's deserving a little personal indulgence that a good friend gave to me. Something I know a mom to be would appriciate that isn't too expensive is a pair of slippers (for taking to the hospital when she gives birth). Tuck a small bag of Hershey's kisses or kissables in them with a note saying something like "These kisses are to help you prepare for all the baby kisses you'll soon be getting" or "Because you'll never want to stop kissing your darling baby." Sappy, I know, but very cute!
Reply:a belly cast kit you can find them on ebay for around $20 with shipping. they are so cool it makes a mold of your belly i did this will all my pregnancies.
Reply:If you want to do baskets, hit up some sort of dollar store. powder, baby lotion, shampoo, washcloths, pacifier....tons of stuff to chose from, all inexpensive, all useful. instead of a traditional basket, get a plastic basket or something that they can actually use to keep toiletries in and carry around later. Babies get bathed and changed all over the place... If you do decided to do something with diapers, you should probably get size one...not newborn. some babies are too big for the newborns at birth and they will just be wasted, where as even the smaller babies will grow at some point!
Reply:Gift Certificates to either a baby store, or a store just for her.
Reply:Cute Baby Posters, frame it with a clock or superimpose couples photograph on it... this way they get to keep it forever... instead few use and throw away gifts...
Reply:Here's a few suggestions I got at my baby showers:

A basket of booties, they are in expensive and when you have a baby you use a ton because they always get lost.

A diaper stacker full of diapers.

Put a receiving blanket at the bottom of a basket and fill the basket with odds and ends i.e lotions, burp rags, wash clothes, the diaper genie refill cartridge.

And lastly, the best gift I ever got for a shower was a t-shirt for me, because everything you get is for the baby, it was so sweet that someone thought of me.
Reply:A pregnancy massage. They will LOVE you for it
Reply:this is the gift i always give

diaper bag

cloth diapers

small wipe case with wipes

bottles

pacifier

diaper pins

if you give alot of little things like pacifiers, bottles, wipes and cloth diapers you can buy them in larger packages and split them up between friends. you could put everything in the cloth diaper and use it as the wrap closed with a pair of diaper pins.
Reply:Just an idea..everyone gets things for the baby. Why not something for MOM? Mom can always use a little help...or a movie..or yummies..
Reply:Out of all my baby showers ( I had 4 when I only have 1 child!), the best gifts I liked were actually diapers %26amp; baby wipes...lots of diapers..... and I always loved picture frames, any kind, any size !!! And photo albums.., Good luck !!!!
Reply:My mom swears by giving bath things for baby showers (hooded towels, baby shampoo, washcloths, little tub toys, etc). It's inexpensive and VERY much needed. You could put a small basket together for about $10. She also gives waffle irons for wedding showers, and everyone's always really happy about those too. lol.
Reply:I would say get a basket that she can use for keeping things in the nursery, for the way important people-get a small photo gift card, a rubber ducky thermometer to check bathwater temps( they change color or have a scale to show how hot) a onsie for 3-6 mos or 6-9 mos, a small package of diapers-I swear by swaddlers, and maybe a few burp cloths, and I think a mini-coupon book of things like valid for "i will watch baby for two hours" , "take mom and babe out for lunch" "wash your dishes", "help with housework"...etc because THAT is PRICELESS....maybe put that on stickers or safety pin on some things she can use, like one on each of the other gifts. Everything ou buy-be sure to get a gift receipt because duplicates are such a pain but almost always happen eventually
Reply:How close are you to these people? If you can afford to be generous with your time rather than your money make your own coupons on the computer promising that you will cook her a meal after the baby is born, or clean the kitchen or vacuum the floor, run some errands, or watch the baby while she takes a nap or a bath. Some may see it and think you are cheap but I really wish I had cheap friends like that!
Reply:The best (cheap) baby gifts for a basket would be:

Baby wash (not head to toe baby wash if it's a girl, it could cause a yeast infection. Get seperate shampoo and baby wash).

Safety q-tips

Desitin

Nail clippers

Homeopathic Teething Tablets

Teething rings (You can get for $1 at Target)

Bibs

Baby food (they last a long time if unopened)

Baby spoons

Wash cloths

Baby lotion

Pacifier
Reply:you know, most people get for the baby, for the new mothers. i think it would be nice to actually get something for the new mother! maybe some pj's or something comfortable that you know they would get good use of! the baby will have all it needs, with others getting for it! the new mommy deserves something nice! good luck!
Reply:A vibrator for when she goes single
