Hickory Farms products are very good. The cheese can be either processed or "real" depending on the item chosen. Read the description of the items and you should be able to tell if it is a solid cheese such as Swiss or Cheddar or if it is a blend. Most processed cheeses are more like the Velveeta or common American yellow cheese.
An additional word on gift baskets. You might do better, if you are going to hand deliver the gift, by buying the ingredients and putting the gift together yourself.
Hickory Farms gift basket question? Does anyone know how the quality is and is it real cheese or processed?
Sounds like a great gift. I'd equate that to getting a snot filled fruitcake or a toe-jam omelette. Step up and get something semi-edible. That hickory farms junk is deeeee-sgusting
Reply:Most gift baskets use processed cheese.
Reply:Hickory Farms is known for their good quality. "Processed" is still real, but read over the descriptions on the web site... I'm sure it'll tell you.
Here's a site I've had some very good luck with. Don't be fooled by the name... there are MANY baskets that do not include wine. I've used this service and they are very good, and there's a good range of prices... not all out of site.
